The long-awaited follow up to Another Long Story doesn't disappoint, filled as it is with some real gems. If it's melody and heartfelt vocals you're after, you can't go wrong with this album. Highlights are Cherokee City, complete with a very un-country string quartet(but it works!), the country classic
Tennessee Girl, a spellbinding(and arguably superior)version of Springsteen's No Surrender and the Byrds/George Harrison influenced Way Back When, with a chorus you just can't get out of your brain. Some have criticised the inclusion of re-works of three tracks from Kevin's 1993 A&M debut,Fear Nothing but these are songs which have become staples of his live shows. Kevin felt that Fear Nothing 'fell through the cracks' due to A&M not knowing just which 'bag' to put him in(Country or Rock?). The album was long since deleted (although copies have been available at shows)and these tracks are, to my mind, included as 'bonuses' to a 13 track album already crammed with quality material, so there can be no real grumbles. Kevin has been touring almost without a break for some 4 years and has built up a substantial 'grass roots' following, particularly in the UK. Hopefully, this will be the album that deservedly brings him to the attention of a much wider audience.

Kevin Montgomery comes from a musical family. Kevin is the son of Bob and Carol Montgomery. Bob was Buddy Holly's duet partner in the days before anyone ever heard of rock and roll music. Carol sang back up on Elvis Presley's hit Suspicious Minds.
For 2:30am, Kevin has delivered 13 tracks-12 of which he wrote or co-wrote. The real gems on this album are Bella Bina, Way Back When, Tennesee Girl and No Surrender. Trisha Yearwood provides harmony vocals on Tennessee Girl and the harmonies are so good, it makes me wish that Trisha would do a duet album with Kevin instead of a duet album with Garth Brooks. No Surrender was written and originally recorded by Bruce Springsteen. On 2:30am, Kevin takes this song and totally outdoes Springsteen's version. I first heard of Kevin Montgomery when I purchsed the 1996 Buddy Holly tribute album called Not Fade Away. On that album, he sang a duet with Mary Chapin Carpenter and did an excellent job. I am surprised that he has not been more successful.
