5.0 out of 5 stars Bluetooth dongle works with skype
I was looking for the 100meter version but was told by someone at BB it doesn't matter because the client device (bluetooth headset) does not have the power to broadcast 100meters. So I looked around and decided on this one from Eforcity. Main reason is that I didn't want to deal with older versions of the bluetooth specs. I use this on my laptop to connect to my Moto...

5.0 out of 5 stars Bluetooth dongle works with skype, March 8, 2007
This review is from: 2.4GHz Bluetooth v2.0 Dongle Adapter (Electronics)
I was looking for the 100meter version but was told by someone at BB it doesn't matter because the client device (bluetooth headset) does not have the power to broadcast 100meters. So I looked around and decided on this one from Eforcity. Main reason is that I didn't want to deal with older versions of the bluetooth specs. I use this on my laptop to connect to my Moto bluetooth headset so that I can talk on skype wirelessly. Eforcity shipped quickly and packaged well. They use to sell the 100meter version but I'm told they only carry this 10meter version because its Bluetooth 2.0.
I can walk to the other end of the library and still carry converstation, about 50feet.

5.0 out of 5 stars It works easily and an excellent price, July 18, 2008
This review is from: 2.4GHz Bluetooth v2.0 Dongle Adapter (Electronics)
I have a Samsung BEAT cell phone. For a week or so, I had been trying to figure out how to use it as a modem to connect my PC to the internet. No matter what I tried, I couldn't get it to work using the phone's data cable. I noticed that Dial Up Network is listed as a Bluetooth feature on this phone, so I decided to give that a shot.

I went to Best Buy and the only USB Bluetooth adapter in stock was $39.99. I checked Amazon and decided to try this instead, since my order would be under $10 including shipping. I ordered on 07/13/2008, and the package was in my PO Box on 07/17/2008. I picked it up at about 4pm, and my PC was on the new Bluetooth DUN internet connection by 5:30. The only difficulties I ran into were configuring the setup do dial the correct number (#99* for me), and directing my web browser to use the TMobile proxy server address (216.155.165.50 port: 8080). Note: with TMobile, you also have to have their data package on your acount for this to work.

Using this adapter with the included software, I am also able to transfer files between my phone and computer. Other features are supported, but I have not used them.

As for the item itself, it is pretty small, so just be careful not to lose it. This shouldn't be a problem for me, since it just stays plugged into the back of the computer.

Overall, it's one of the best tech buys I've made in a long time. I can't give less than 5 stars because the ordering, shipping, and product performance have been flawless to this point. I will update this if any issues come up.

1.0 out of 5 stars BAIT AND SWITCH, February 4, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I received a GTMax Bluetooth Dongle USB Adapter for Verizon Motorola Droid A855 CDMA Cell Phone and not the one made by EDR. In contrast to "EDR" products, the product and the packaging lack any manufacturer address or contact info. There is no warranty information anywhere in the package. Worst of all, no software was provided with the product. I intended to use the device for stereo audio mostly. The default Windows XP bluetooth driver provides no functionality besides just recognizing the presence of the device. "GT Max" has no website that could be used to download the required software to make the device operate. In short, the experience was not a good one. The plus in the whole affair is that the vendor, BargainCell did ship immediately and I received the product quickly. It is beyond monetary reason to return this product to the vendor for a refund due to the cost of the required 'trackable' shipping that must be paid by the customer.

1.0 out of 5 stars Does not work with Skype w/o buying additional software!, February 1, 2010
The cd that came with this is version 2. You need version 6 plus Soleil VOIP to work with Skype. This will cost you an additional $44 USD (approx.) And, the BlueSoleil website was EXTREMELY slow when I tried to purchase the needed software. The whole install process was very slow, tedious, and frustrating.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works as expected, January 6, 2010

My windows XP system had the correct drivers for this bluetooth dongle, installed it, and it worked on the first try. Bluetooth file transfers are kind of a pain no matter what device I use, but this works as expected. For the price, it was a bargain, haven't tried it huge distances, but it works within at least 5 feet of my computer, I should probably try it further and add a note later.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works nicely, May 4, 2009
This review is from: 2.4GHz Bluetooth v2.0 Dongle Adapter (Electronics)
It was described to come with product manuals and an installation driver CD but upon arrival all that was in the package was the dongle itself. I'm not to sure the condition was actually new as described because of the above mentioned and the package itself was easily opened as if taken out of the pre-sealed package. On the container that held the dongle you could clearly see the "Installation CD" words scratched out by marker in the "package contents" area. I would advice anyone buying this dongle to take caution, you may not receive what you think you will receive. Overall Id say its worth the risk if you really need a cheap way of making your laptop/pc blue tooth capable. The windows drivers work great on this device and they will install automatically and almost instantly, they do support active sync for smart phones and if you want to use your phone as a network device you can go into your network connections and find the options for blue tooth there or in the start menu > connect to > blue tooth connection.

Overall I am satisfied despite just receiving the dongle it works great and it does have support for bluesoleil 6 if you have the license for it or are willing to buy one

the dongle itself is fairly small and very thin and compact with a flashing blue LED light while in use

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellant bluetooth device for Linux too, August 14, 2008
This review is from: 2.4GHz Bluetooth v2.0 Dongle Adapter (Electronics)
I run Fedora core 8 on my lenovo t60. This dongle works out of the box very well. I didn't have to hunt for drivers. Discovering devices works (this tests interoperability with other devices). File transfer at very reasonable speeds (350kb files in under 30-40 seconds). I am very satisfied with this product. Hence the 5-star rating to this dongle.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but, April 12, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: 2.4GHz Bluetooth v2.0 Dongle Adapter (Electronics)
This product works fine, but it will only allow 5 - 10 transfers before it loses connection. All you have to do is to remove it then plug it back in and it will establish a connection again. Nothing to it but just a small inconvience.
