Features a weaver base mount that will fit most any rifle/pistol scope, red dot scope and other aiming devices. Comes with all the necessary mounting hardware. This mount must be used in conjunction with a long eye relief scope or a red dot/reflex sight that has no magnification. Will fit these rifles: Mosin Nagant 91/30, M38, M44, Hungarian, Chinese 53 and Russian Mosin Nagants. We recommend the use of thread locking compound on all screws. Thread locking compound is not included. We are aware that there a number of Mosin nagant rifles, ( particularly those that where made or Rearsenaled during the the late WWII years and original pre 1900's production Dragoon rifles ) that where produced or altered with dimensions or features that where not part of the original Mil-Spec design. If your rifle falls into this category, there may be some fitting required. - All items are Brand New.

This scope is really great. Easy to install and looks great on the gun. My husband is very pleased with this purchase.

The scope is great, the ring mounts are great, the Weaver rail is garbage. Can't get it tight enough to hold zero on a 91/30 rifle, which doesn't really matter considering the horizontal hold screws broke before it even got to the range. I ended up removing the rear sight box to expose the ~11mm dovetail rail and putting a tall dovetail to Weaver adapter in its place, which is very secure and holds zero no problem.

Had expected to have to remove the rear sight housing to acess the 11mm dovetail. When I read the instructions, it was much simpler. Drift the forward pin on the rear sight out releasing the rear sight "ladder". Remove the metal spring by sliding it forward. Install the rail mount inside the rear sight base lining up the screw holes with the forward pin holes. It's installed! Basically. Would be very easy to return the Mosin Nagant rear sight to its original configuration.

Now comes the adjusting part. I found the rail base to be too loose in the rear sight base to insure it didn't move left/right. Didn't trust the small set screws to be able to hold against the steel of the base. So I added a few layers of metal tape and Voila! A firm fit and by alternating the tightening of the screws, could get the rail parallel with the barrel left / right. Getting the rail parallel with the barrel in the vertical was just as easy using a carpenter's level. Got close enough. Now I think I can be within the adjustment capability of the scope's elevation and windage knobs.

When I opened the box with the rings, I was a little disappointed. One ring looked like it had been used as there were many "ding" marks rather than the smooth black. They were also the "see through" type which meant the scope was too high. Will need to get another set of rings to bring the scope down to the right level with my eye when I have the proper cheek weld.

The reticle on the scope box was not the reticle in the scope. But I didn't buy the scope for a specific reticle. When mounted, the eye relief was excellent and will do fine when I get the lower mounts. Then I will put blue Loctite on everything, let it set overnight, and take it to the range.

2 of 3 people found the following review helpful By Daniel Morgan on April 13, 2013
I received the AIM 2-7x42 scout scope and Mosin Nagant rail mount for a birthday present and, in truth, I couldn't be happier. The scope had the range-finder sight window, and sights in quite beautifully. It is light, sturdy, and when affixed to the rifle provides excellent eye-relief for the distance it is at. For the cost of the item in question, the scope is a great purchase. Installation is quick and painless, it took less than the estimated 45 minutes to install on the present sight fixture on my 91/30. The scope came with clear, concise instructions that were easy to follow to achieve this end.

The only hangup I had was actually not with the scope, instructions, or the mount itself, but removing the pivot for the sight bar in order to affix the scope mount. The leaf-spring for the sight bar put quite a bit of pressure on the pivot, making it difficult to withdraw. Other than that snag, the accompanying instructions provided me with the information I needed, as well as any potential issues that could arise from it.

The only other word that I would offer about this would be to take heed and have a locking-agent available for the screws. Like the instructions say, the Mosin Nagant WILL kick the scope mount loose.
