2. CONTAMINATION: A Tribute to David Bowie (2-disc deluxe edition)I found this by accident when looking up music for the Dresden Dolls - but what a wonderful find. Dresden Dolls, Voltaire, The Brides, David J...how can you go wrong? Actually other highlights are from the Metrosexuals (Andy Warhol), Mr. Russia (Boys), Heart's Fail (Man Who Sold the World)and Tides of Mars (a great cover of Scary Monsters). Meg Lee Chin's cover of Heroes is the best I've ever heard. Very few misses here - just keep an open mind. The Brides' John I'm Only Dancing is dead on!

As a real David Bowie fan this CD was a treat to get this Christmas. I must say that all the tributes were well done and thought out and not just karaoke copies. If, however, you abhor anyone singing a David Bowie song but David Bowie himself, this CD is not for you, these bands are not David Bowie, nor do most sound anything like him. If you are like me and love the songs in nearly every construct, and also happen to like new rock, punk, what have you, then this is an album for you. Also the Dresden Dolls play a great Life on Mars, I'm a fan of theirs as well.

UPDATE 01/30/06 ".2 CONTAMINATION: A Tribute to David Bowie" finally has a release date of February 28, 2006. All pre-orders of the Deluxe Edition will be shipped on or before this date. If you haven't ordered on already, less than 150 copies remain. After that, no more Deluxe Editions will be printed. All other copies will not have the 36-page booklet, the bonus track, or the bonus CD with it. So order now while you can.
