4.0 out of 5 stars I disagree
After reading the reviews above I decided to chime in with my two cents. Although I agree Joe Public may find this movie a bit dry and at times unrealistic I must say that this is an unfair assesment and that the film has it's audience. Currently I am working on my masters in Psychology and I must say that the depiction of an individual who is seriously considering...

3.0 out of 5 stars To die or not to die... in front of the camera of course
The premise is simple: a fledgling actor decides he's done with life so he hires a camera crew to follow him around, documenting his final living days. After he is gone, well, there will be a record left behind. His own self produced reality show of the end. His friends mostly just assume it's a cry for attention - you know that's what people like him do, they need a...

4.0 out of 5 stars I disagree, November 8, 2004
This review is from: 2 Days (DVD)
After reading the reviews above I decided to chime in with my two cents. Although I agree Joe Public may find this movie a bit dry and at times unrealistic I must say that this is an unfair assesment and that the film has it's audience. Currently I am working on my masters in Psychology and I must say that the depiction of an individual who is seriously considering suicide is far more accurate than most films today. Despite popular opinion, those who attempt suicide are rarely brudding goths who always see the more morbid side of things and listen to Metallica. They are generally normal people who just feel tired and lost, something that Paul Rudd brings across in spades. Although they seldom film their deaths, most suicide attempties do discuss killing themselves and are often aware of how "indulgent" it may seem to others, a point discussed in the film. Thus it is unfair to say that this movie is bad based on a half founded belief that the content is unrealistic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, May 13, 2009

Given how poorly it's been received by reviewers on amazon, this must be a film you either get or don't get, with no subtle in-betweens. This film really connected with me. Paul Rudd is brilliant in it. The whole scenario is a really fascinating take on suicide, and the dialogue is well written and realistic.

3.0 out of 5 stars To die or not to die... in front of the camera of course, May 4, 2011
This review is from: 2 Days (DVD)
The premise is simple: a fledgling actor decides he's done with life so he hires a camera crew to follow him around, documenting his final living days. After he is gone, well, there will be a record left behind. His own self produced reality show of the end. His friends mostly just assume it's a cry for attention - you know that's what people like him do, they need a spotlight on them, overdramatic, etc etc. He looks fine.

Like many actual reality shows there is a lot of unnecessary side drama which seems forced / manufactured - it even seems to take over at times, you'd think that would be mentioned in any truly negative reviews it gets. Sometimes there is a lack of real character development, maybe that'd be mentioned in truly negative reviews. Most of what I have seen in negative reviews is just vague or instead focuses on the mental illness / depression aspect. For me that is not at all an issue having actually lost a friend to suicide and having dealt with many more people who have dealt with different forms of depression / other mental illness. To think someone who "looks normal" isn't ready to end it is pure ignorance. Everyone is different. The person I know who did kill themselves did so as their life was going better than ever, when people complained the least of their depression symptoms affecting those around them. Our star here was clearly bottling something up, as seen in the rare alone with the camera moment we get to share with him.

Of course like many people with depression issues he has alienated most people by the time of his big day - those who don't believe him seem sick of his silly ways, those who do just don't want to be a part of his plan or his life / death in general.

So will he or won't he? Obviously death is his chance to end it, get famous, it's the solution... it's also final and he won't be around to enjoy it, no second chances. No spoiler here.

Is it a fantastic movie? I wouldn't go that far, but it's also better than some of the reviews I've seen that seem to make it out as the worst thing ever given to humanity.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm very surprised by everyone's reaction to this movie.. i thought it was great..., November 25, 2006

Perhaps it's because I feel that I can relate to the guy, but I thought it was actually quite humourous. The guy seemed pretty real, cynical, and tired of living a boring lonely life. I loved it...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not so interesting Mocumentary..., July 30, 2004
This review is from: 2 Days (DVD)
I rented "2 Days" because the premise sounded intriguing enough: An actor who decides to kill himself in 2 days has a film crew follow him around up until the very end. Maybe if this had been a documentary on a real person's life it could have worked. But I found this movie to be very unreal and unsatisfying. Don't get me wrong, Paul Rudd is a good actor and quite sexy I might add, but I could barely keep myself awake to watch the movie in it's entirety. It wasn't a horrible movie, but I can understand why it went straight to video. When killing yourself in two days starts looking more appealing than continuing to watch this movie... well, I'd say it's failed as good entertainment.

1.0 out of 5 stars How bad can a movie be?, September 12, 2005

Wow. It's rare I consider a movie absolutely horrendous, but this one qualifies. We are given absolutely no reason whatsoever to care for this guy, and halfway through this tedious excuse for a movie, I found myself yelling "DIE already". When he doesn't kill himself in the end, all I wanted to do was shove him face down in the ocean and drown him. A dumb stupid awful "indie" movie that is a waste of film, time and effort.

1.0 out of 5 stars terrible, December 7, 2004
This review is from: 2 Days (DVD)
I tend to agree with Mo Ramchandani's review, this is a terrible film and given that it went straight to video is a miracle, it really should have gone straight to RADIO. What is interesting is how our friend Albert made the connection between Mo Ramchandani who reveiwed the film and MOHIT Ramchandani who produced Two Days, could they be the same person, pherhaps, but what is more obvious is that Albert is really an alias for acclaimed director Sean Mcginly continues promoting his film. I am a huge fan of Mcginly's other work starring Karl Wiedergott "The Truth about Juliet". Sheer Genius!! speaking of strange charcters, how would albert come to the conclusion that Mo Ramchandani is filing a petty grieveance, could he not juts be an honest producer who has gone on to bigger and better things????

1.0 out of 5 stars garbage, December 7, 2004
This review is from: 2 Days (DVD)
I think producer Mo Ramchandani should be commended for his integrity in honestly reviewing his own film. This is rare in an industry that is proliferated with bald old men who are more interested in turning a profit than producing a good film. This was by far the worst film i have ever seen, i urge anybody on this page not to waste their time. Director Sean Mcginly should have been fired on the first day of shooting and replaced with anyone, even a farm animal, and then maybe the psycholgical complexities of suicide would have been better explored. I look forward to more from producer Mo Ramchandani, its clear he's not going to make teh smae mistake twice!!!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars what a sad world we live in., November 30, 2004
This review is from: 2 Days (DVD)
They say that art reflects society and it is no wonder that Bush is president and the whole world has gone mad killing each other over religion when movies like Two Days are made. The film is the worst i have ever seen by far, a motiveless paul rudd who gives a terrible performance tries to convince us that he wants to kill himself cause he cant get work as an actor in sunny LA and afford a BMW, this in itself is a flawed idea but trust me when i tell you it sinks lower than dolly partons [...] as the story, or lack there off, unfolds. No real characters, just cliche's, absolutely no direction whatsoever, nothing is achieved visually just a bunch of talking heads that fail to convince us of anything else except what fools we were for watching this film. By the end of it i wanted to kill myself in couldnt wait two days!!! Who made this film?????

1.0 out of 5 stars I wanted to kill myself!, January 2, 2005
This review is from: 2 Days (DVD)
We must have reached the End of Days. Our civilization as we know it is over when films like these get made. What can I say, this home video is so amateurish it should not have ever found its way into my video store. Because the premise sounded promising and the cast was decent, I gave this title a try. Mistake! BIG MISTAKE! The film is a random compilation of pointless scenes, dwelling on the melodramatic life of Paul Rudd, who because he failed as an actor, wants to kill himself. Yet I am never given any believable insight into his soul nor do I care about his failure. This is some of the whiniest filmmaking I have ever seen. Who ever made this film is trying too hard to be heard, although apparently has very little to say!
