2.0 out of 5 stars Amazing live, but WAY too over produced on this album.
I've been a Jeffrey Steele fan for years, and living in the Nashville area, often get to see him perform. This was my dad's and my first choice to buy because we love his versions of the songs live.

Were we ever shocked when we heard the start to If That Ain't Country. We had no idea what on earth we were hearing until we heard his voice. It was nothing like...

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than the Artists Hits!, November 10, 2010

Country hit songwriter Jeffrey Steele's own versions of his songs (which were made popular by other artists) has more warmth & heart than those who originally recorded them. For instance, Steele's penned 'What Hurts The Most' has an emotional performance that comes from a far deeper place in Steele's soul than Rascal flatts could ever try and come close to. 'Hell Yeah' grooves and rocks harder than Montgomery Gentry's version hands down. It's blatently obvious that Jeffrey Steele owns every song on this CD. If you are a fan of some of these country artists, and these songs, then this CD is a must have!

It was nothing like what we were used to hearing and loved, such as Jeffrey himself live or Anthony Smith's version, which is the title track to his first album. It just kept getting worse and worse, far too much post-production sounds on it, at least until Good to Go, which is the only tolerable track on the entire thing in my opinion.

The only reason it gets any stars at all is for how amazing Jeffrey's voice really is. I just wonder what possessed someone to butcher that album THAT badly. I'll stick to the other albums, or just seeing him live every chance I get.
