Ok no big spoiler, the undercover angle goes out the window fast. Almost everyone seems to know who everyone is very quickly. Still the few people left in the dark to a few secrets (including the reader) will be pleased with the plot twists. The characters are also genuinely charismatic and the dialog is snappy. There are a few moments that strain the suspension of disbelief but never too badly. This is definitely a good light read for an afternoon.

Strong story from a writer who is always fun to read. If you can find it, check out Badlands, one of his earlier works. I love to see that one made into a movie.

Dare I say, I liked the movie better than the book. Or maybe its cause I saw the movie before I read the book and it ruined it for me.
You be the judge.
