"One of Their Best", August 13, 2011
"Two of a Kind" was Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner's sixth studio album, and although there were no singles released from this collection it still managed to go as far as #13 on the Billboard Country Album's Chart. This record is highly known for the track "The Pain of Loving You", written by Porter and Dolly, and later included on the "Trio" project in 1987 that featured Dolly, Linda, and Emmylou. At the time Emmylou said, "I think it's important Porter is somehow included on this project".
Dolly herself wrote many of the songs with my favorites being "Is It Real?", "The Flame", and the title track, a co-write with Porter. "Curse of the Wild Weed Flower" dealt with drug use in the highly controversial early 1970's.
Later in 1971 (the year the LP was released) Porter and Dolly would win their third award for Best Duo by the Country Music Association.
Finally, in late 2008 (the year Porter died) "Two of a Kind" came out on CD format and was paired with another blockbuster duet album, 1969's "Always, Always".

This is an album I used to listen to as a little girl.I have always loved this duo, but I haven't heard their music for years as our albums were old lp's.There are a few more albums recorded by Porter and Dolly but this website only has 4. I am looking for an album with the songs titled; 'The pain of loving you'and 'Run that by me one more time' If anyone reading this has info about more of Porter and Dolly's recordings, please let me know through this website by comments or email me. My address is;- chris.40burns@btinternet.com
