I don't know what higher priced phones offer, but this one sure fills the bill. One thing of note is that the Caller ID display is powered by 4 AA batteries. Compensating for that is that there is no AC/DC transformer to plug in. Just plug in the phone lines and you're ready to go. The display contrast can be increased if needed, but the default display works just fine for us. Setup and memory features are intuitive and easy to use.

Well, it's a phone. You can pick up the phone and make a phone call.
You can have two lines into the phone and press a button to switch between lines. But, if that's all you want, just buy two $8 phones. Problems I have with this phone: - I bought it primarily for the speaker phone functionality. The speaker phone sucks. It is very difficult for anyone on the other end of the call to hear me. - The caller ID will NOT work with rechargeable AA batteries. - The speaker phone button is annoying. In order to answer a call with it, you have to press and hold the button for two seconds, then release it. If you just press it, and then see the light flash and release, the caller just gets disconnected. I have no idea why you would make a phone where the light goes on when the phone isn't actually going to connect you. - The caller ID display is very difficult to read unless you have the right lighting and are looking at the right angle. - This phone is made of cheap plastic.

Got VOIP, have DSL so I had to keep my land line and old number. I put this phone in to be able to answer calls on both lines from one place. It works great for that.
The display is large and readable. The sound quality is not an issue. I believe this phone is for regular consumer use. It seems to be more commercial focused in it's features. It would be better if the line selection were not a physical button. If line two is ringing, when you pick up the phone it should pick-up line two. Instead it picks up whatever line has the button pushed. When you pick up the phone to make a call it should default to a selected line. My DSL line (line 2) is seriously basic (dial-tone, DSL and 911 is about all it has), if someone picks up the phone and makes a call without checking what line is selected, it gets expensive.

The "CONFERENCE" feature is useless - while you can hear each of the other two parties, they cannot hear each other at all. My other big complaint is that if I'm sending or receiving a fax on line 2, I can hear the fax tone on line 1. Makes it pretty touch to carry on a conversation. I suspect this is the same issue inside the electronics - not enough shielding between the lines.

I'm looking for an inexpensive two line corded phone with caller id. I just unpacked, put in it four AA cells and go!
It works fine, have clear audio and also operates in full hands free mode. The large display allows an easy reading.

I have never placed a product review before - but this is one of those products where I would NEVER buy again. The sound quality is horrendous. We have done everything thinking maybe it was our phone line so we replaced inside wires, outlets, etc. Another phone works perfectly but this one you can barely hear over the terrible static. Avoid.

UPDATE to my review below: The handset quit working after a few months, I could hear the caller but he couldn't hear me. I tried replacing the cord from phone to handset, that did not work. So I shipped it back to GE and a couple weeks later received a replacement (refurbished??) unit. Reasonably good customer service from GE at least. HOWEVER, within a few months the LCD panel on the replacement faded and is just barely readable now if you squint at it. So, this phone does have problems though the price is not bad. We're still using it.
My original review: The phone has good sound, and the speaker phone feature also works well. My only (minor) complaint is that you have to push a button for the line you want to answer (it doesn't automatically select the incoming line). Caller ID also works great and is easy to read. Easy to set up. I like that it doesn't need to be plugged into electricity in the wall (it uses 4 AA batteries to power the caller ID screen, apparently this will last for months). I already have too many things plugged in around my office!

If you are on line one and a call comes into line two, you have significant background noise while the second line is active. In-call volume controls are not intuitive. Overall, I am sorry I bought this phone.

Good value for the price in an old fashioned corded phone. Has nice big buttons, good sound and comfortable hand set. No unnecessary gimics.
