Boy, you guys in The States are lucky. Really. A band like this just around the corner.I am just a music fan. 'from the beastie boys to frank zappa and everything in between'. I like rock, hiphop, whatever... Venice is a band like that. Those harmonies! You can feel the Californian sunshine. For some reason they are really popular here in the Low Countries. We don`t mind keeping your undiscovered diamond here.

Best Live Album,

This is one of the best albums I've ever heard. I finally enjoy listening to music again!! I used to get to see Venice play live all the time when I lived in L.A., but ever since I moved 8 years ago, music just hasn't been the same. Until Now!! Venice is probably the only band I know who sound this good on a live recording. This album is filled with wonderful, trade-mark Venice harmonies and some great guest appearances by Jackson Browne and David Crosby. I would certainly recommend this album to anyone who appriciates great harmonies by some of the best voices music has to offer.

Why these guys aren't more well known I do not know! I live near Venice where they used to play a lot, and yet I didn't even hear much about them here! They seem to have NO record company promotion at all, and it's a shame.I suppose it's because their "sound" is not the crap that is popular these days, it's more like Crosby Stills and Nash and the Eagles, but they are fantastic! Their version of Guinevere is the best version I've ever heard, even better than Crosby Stills and Nash's own version! (And Crosby helps them out on their version here.) It also features a track by and with Jackson Browne. This band makes just plain great music and if you love great vocals, you will love it. And by the way, their songwriting is great, too.

Honest, clean and pure music!,
This review is from: 2 Meter Sessies (Audio CD)
Venice is a band of four guys just making great music! Clean vocals in close harmony, supported by beautiful and honest guitarplay. No nonsense music from the Westcoast. Slow ballads, sometimes almost countryish, but also very solid and cutting the edge up tempo rock. Yet, this CD only contains 'em all in accoustic style. Recorded in Harderwijk, The Netherlands, for a TV show called 2 Meter Sessies. It's just great! This is what music should be. No stuff that don't matter, but just music. In a way Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young used to do. Or maybe the Eagles en the Beatles. There are all little pieces of it to be heared on the CD. Acceptable though, because it's sometimes brought with a wink, but seriously dedicated and full of sense and emotion.

This CD (and the band Venice) are wildly popular in Europe and are now being recognized more and more in America. With two lead singers (Kipp and Mark Lennon) with amazing pipes, these guys play pop, rock and acoustic folk like you've never heard before. Guest artists include Jackson Brown and David Crosby. This CD is a must have for any collection!!

Nostalgia is alive and well...and the band Venice proves that skill, technique, and craft are still needed in the musical arena. 2 Meter Sessions is the instant fix that can assure even the most callused of music connoisseurs, that there is a band out there who hasn't forgotten the craft of creating. It may be a familar song revisited or a new song introduced...regardless the sound, vibe, and unique style leaves you longing for more.Venice is an amazing band, and 2 Meter Session highlights many of their skills...harmony, phrasing, and lyrics. One of the strongest feats that is conveyed in this particular album is their ability to connect on a personal level. And as if the original material isn't enough to keep you thanking your lucky stars, this cd leads you through the best rendition of Stevie Nick's Landslide, across the beautiful Guinnevere with David Crosby, and over the poignant For A Dancer with Jackson Browne. Search no more, your travels for a solid cd will be found within 2 Meter Sessions. The only question that you will be left with is..."Why aren't these guys better known?" All you can do is smile and appreciate the fact that you are in on one of the best kept secrets of the music industry. This is a cd that you won't regret investing in! |
