PCT TV Amplifier,

This review is from: 2-Port Bi-Directional Cable TV HDTV Amplifier Splitter Signal Booster with Pa... (Electronics)
September 2010, updated to June 2011 I ordered the PCT 2-Port Bi-directional Cable TV HDTV Amplifier Splitter Booster from Amazon, and, as usual, everything was satisfactory. I already had a fair signal from my cable supplier, but some channels (the low VHF) were weak, giving a dirty picture. The PCT Booster Amplifier went in without a hitch, although a short coaxial cable was needed -- which was already in my junk box. All channels now give a very good picture, and I am happy. One unusual thing is that the 15 volt DC output from the included power adapter is a standard, Type F coaxial connector, not the usual miniature plug and socket. This requires a coaxial cable to connect the power to the Booster Amplifier. Alternatively, the power adapter can be attached directly to the Booster Amplifier with a coaxial sleeve coupling -- which I already had. In this case, no extra cable is needed. There is a good reason for this arrangement, but it's another subject. I chose the 2-port version, because that's all I needed, but a 4-port option is available at a low extra cost. The Booster Amplifier is ruggedly-built in a metal case, and is protected against high voltage surges. Altogether a very good design, and I recommend it. Later: May 7th 2011: Port #1 failed today, and the TV signal became noisy. I switched to Port #2 and the TV signal was perfect again. Mid-May 2011: The second port failed, but a few days later came back to life. I ordered a replacement amplifier. (It was "the devil I knew", and I assumed it had been a random failure of the item that I had ordered.) Early June 2011: The second output signal failed, and I hooked up the replacement amplifier. OK as of late June.

Better than the Motorola boosters available, has a two port splitter switch built in. After installing this I got a much better reception for my digital channels and got my internet signal boosted as well. I have the main cable conming from the wall outlet going into the INPUT port of the booster and from one of the output ports I have a cable going to my router. All three computers in my house connect wirelessly to the router, since I installed this booster I can catch my signal between 93% - 98% even being 1500ft away from th house.

i was kind of worried about this purchase, but it does exactly what is says. i built the antenna that is available on you tube, made with coat hangers hooked up the signal amp and bam 32 stations. i am 34 miles from boston and 11 miles from providence ri ( aprox). great product. one note though: i had to mess around with the way that the booster is hooked up. i used the bottom left port for the ac adapter, input from ant top right and output bottom right to tv or tv box if you have one.
