5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't buy better
I bought this over a year ago when I began to strighten my extremely thick, naturally curly (aka frizzy and kinky) hair. It's awesome. It is still going stong, but I wanted to buy another as a back-up. (I had visions of it dying on me while I was half way through styling. That would be a nightmare!) I couldn't find the same one in the local stores so I tried a couple more...

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
I purchased this product because my sister owns the same one and I loved how it ironed my hair. However, after the second time using it, when I'd try to turn it on, it wouldn't work. I have to fiddle with the cord and smack it with my hand a few times for it to function. And after about a year of my sister owning hers, hers is doing the same. It's a great iron, while it...

I bought this over a year ago when I began to strighten my extremely thick, naturally curly (aka frizzy and kinky) hair. It's awesome. It is still going stong, but I wanted to buy another as a back-up. (I had visions of it dying on me while I was half way through styling. That would be a nightmare!) I couldn't find the same one in the local stores so I tried a couple more expensive, other name brand, "wet to dry" straighteners. (I don't have the time to blow dry first.) I returned them both because they were not even close to being as easy to work with. They could not give me the same smooth, non-frizzy look as this one.

I am thrilled that I found this on-line. Amazon has it for less than anywhere else. (Plus I buy lots from this site and have always had good luck.) I normally wouldn't take the time to review a product, but with my hair being as challenging as it is, and getting these results (and lots of compliments too) I felt I had to let others know how well this works.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great for affordable price! ^_^, February 26, 2007
This review is from: 2" Wet To Set Straightener (Electronics)
I've gone through a lot of different hair straighteners. I happen to have bought this on a whim at Walgreens a year ago for $30-$35 (I forgot the exact price). I hate blow-drying my hair because it takes so long. Then, if I have to straighten my hair, that's double the time, double the effort, and my arms feel like they are just about to come off. So the idea that I wouldn't have to blow-dry my hair before using this thing sold it for me.

It's been working great for me, and during a Vegas trip with some of my girl friends, we all brought hair straighteners. Even though mine was the least expensive (one of my friends bought hers for $300 and it was only 1" thick >.<* ) they all ended up buying this one after that weekend.

Why? Well:

(1) You can use this with wet or damp hair. I wouldn't recommend wet hair though. NOTE: Beware of the steam coming from the vents!

(2) It looks even better and takes less time if you're hair is already dry.

(3)it's 2" so it's great for those of us who have thick, hard-to-manage hair.

This is my second one because on a trip to Canada, we had an electrical surge or something like that and mine didn't work after that. So this time, I'm using a portable surge protector (just in case).

Overall:

A++ product. Highly recommended. ^_^

I have to fiddle with the cord and smack it with my hand a few times for it to function. And after about a year of my sister owning hers, hers is doing the same. It's a great iron, while it lasts. For the money, though, I wouldn't recommend it. I purchased it on Amazon because I couldn't find it in stores. I called Vidal and they told me it had been discontinued. Perhaps that's why...
