With a 2 Year Protection Plan for Kindle Touch (Wi-Fi, 6" E Ink Display), you will receive protection against accidental damage such as drops or spills for up to two years. In the 2nd year, your coverage extends to protect against failures that occur during normal operation. This helps avoid the inconvenience and costs associated with a broken device. The plan stays with the device even if it is gifted or sold to another party.

Plan Features

  • Coverage Against Accidents
    Accidental Damage covers any accident which happens during normal use of the product. While most service plans cover basic mechanical malfunction only, this plan covers your Kindle for accidental mishaps such as drops, liquid spills, cracked screens and other human errors for up to 2 years, limited to one claim.
  • Express Replacement
    Should your Kindle Touch need to be replaced, we will ship a replacement unit to you along with a prepaid shipping label for you to send the defective unit back to us. No shipping fees apply.
  • Battery Replacement
    One time claim for battery malfunction in the second year of coverage.
  • Customer Service Support
    Customer service support is available from 6 am to 10 pm (PST) - call (877) 441-3836.
  • Returns & Refunds
    Customers may cancel their contract at any time for any reason if they have not filed a claim. If the contract is cancelled within 90 days of the date purchased and does not have a claim the customer will receive a refund of the full purchase price of the contract. If the contract is cancelled thereafter and there are no claims, the customer will be refunded the remaining days of coverage on a monthly prorated basis.
  • No Deductibles or Shipping Fees
    No hidden fees, you will not be required to pay a deductible or shipping fees for claims or replacements.
  • Your Contract will be Emailed to You
    After purchasing a plan you will receive your contract via email within 24 business hours and a paper copy via US mail within 7 business days.

I bought my first kindle two years ago. I took my new book to a baseball game and was reading before the game.I put the book in my jacket and some how managed to sit on the jacket and the book, with disastrous results. I called the warranty company the next day and they replaced my book. It dorsn't get much better than that.

Along with some other people, I usually don't buy extended warranties, but for a kindle, I thought it was more than necessary, it's not an iphone with 'gorilla glass', the screen size is much bigger, making it more vulnerable.

Long story short
I left my kindle (naked) in my backpack for many months as a student and accidentally cracked the screen on the bottom left corner at some point, resulting in cracks and making the bottom screen and didn't notice until late last night. I tried calling the 24/7 line at 11:30pm and a recorded message said to call them back at normal business hours from 6am-9pm pacific time. Now I don't have a problem if they don't want to staff people at those hours (maybe they did before, I don't know), but if your product description says you are available 24/7, then you should be open 24/7, I knocked off a star for that, technically 1/2 a star, but amazon doesn't let me do that. I don't think thats unreasonable on my part, I'd be understanding if you were open 9-5pm if that was stated, but when I want to try out the 24/7 service and find out I've been misled, I was a little disappointed.

Where is the good honest part I mentioned in my title? I called today and was connected to a nice person named Cole, Now I assuming that since I had cracked the screen, I'd have to use up my 1-claim deductible for accidental damage which is still better than buying a new one in my book. I was told by Cole that this is still covered by Amazon's one year warranty and under 'normal wear and tear' and transferred me over to them. Now I was a little taken aback because I knew it was my error and wasn't sure if Amazon would share the same feelings, but they did and after a 5 minute conversation, another kindle is being sent to me for free! I appreciated the honesty on Cole's part, now of course they could be wanting to pass the cost off to Amazon, but I'm pretty sure they could have just taken my 1-claim deductible and called it a day and never have to deal with me again, but instead they helped me out, transferred me over to Amazon's department (are they in the same building or something?) and I'm still covered for 1.5 more years!

Now I'm also buying a case as well, so this (hopefully) never happens again, but I know I'm still covered for defects/drops/liquids.

Besides the lack of 24/7 hours part, I'd gladly purchase another warranty if it was ever needed!

I was thinking about buying this with my kindle but I had some questions. I wanted to know if the replacement was a new kindle or a refurbished kindle. And, I wanted to see how difficult it would be to get a representative for a claim. I called the number and it went right into a small speech about calling Amazon for technical support and asked for me to hold on the line to file a claim. Then, I waited for 16 minutes on hold at 6:30pm on a Wednesday Night! I hung up and decided that it wasn't even worth it. I'm a careful person and I bought a nice comfy case for my Kindle to snuggle in for safe keeping.

Test the number for yourself: (877) 441-3836 and asked questions. Ask if you get a refurbished model or a new one. I'd like to know but I think they only do refurb replacements. Nowhere do they say you will get a *NEW* Kindle which would be a great selling point and something worth putting on the page.

So, buyer beware unless you are a total klutz!
