I canceled this service contract, since I returned the item. Despite two letters, several phone calls, and a 30-day refund window under State law, I have yet to receive a credit. Their representatives have given me no less than three different "refund procedures" and two alternate PO boxes. Amazon wants nothing to do with them as far as refunds go - they just sell the plan. However, since Amazon billed the credit card, I've asked the bank to deal with it. I wonder if N.E.W.'s product service, should you ever need it, is on a par.

Most credit cards (Amex, Visa) offer loss and damage protection, and extended warranty protection. Amex, for example, doubles the manufacturer's warranty up to and for at least 1 year.
Research your credit card benefits before investing 20-25% of the product cost in extended warranty protection. I think it's worthless.

Plan worked for me, February 22, 2006

After reading these unfavorable reviews, I felt I had to present a different opinion. After the MP3 player failed to meet expectations, NEW answered my questions over the phone, and sent me the RMA packet within a week. I returned the product, and received a full refund within 10 days.
I liked the no hastle customer service personnel.
I'm satisfied and I'll buy their protection plan again.
