4.0 out of 5 stars As Dream Books Go, This One Is Excellent, July 2, 2006
I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5 because it is missing a few entries. For example, one night, I dreamt of lingerie and an electrical post, neither are found in the book. No dream book is perfect, I suppose, making the title an honest one. It does have a pretty in-depth index and it is not negative as some dream books tend to be. I have owned many dream books in my lifetime and this is one of the best. If you like dream books, I definitely recommend this purchase.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Up to Par, May 9, 2008
Now normally I love reference books, but this one really bit the dust for me. I do not like how the book is set up in terms of themes instead of alphebetically. I know this sounds trivial but it is indeed hard for me to look anything up quickly this way. I have to always go to the index and the go to the section/page that the word is located. And depending on what you're looking up, you may be looking in several sections of the book. Now this book is one of the most comprehensive as far as terminology goes, however the dream meanings/definitions are extreamly short and barely to the point. I was lucky to find two sentences devoted to the meaning of a certain word I was looking up, and I am not exagerating my lack of enthusiam with this here.

I gave this book two stars simply because of the fun, light, and beautiful illustrations found within. This does make the book more approachable for those who are not trying to discover the science of their dreams. I would reccomend this book for those who find dream dictionarys fun instead of something to be studied. Young adults would appreciate this book as it would be fun for parties and such. People who are just "getting into the dream book thing" would probably like this also. But if you are like myself and look for archetypal meaning and find a great wealth of information and satisfaction from the study of dreams, then this is not the book for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best dream book ever!, June 10, 2006
When Mary Summer Rain fans see this book they'll realize why Mary has published a *third* dream book. This book is arranged by topic--like Mary wanted her other two books to be arranged. This means, for example, if you want to know about colors, colors are all together in one place. Or anything to do with transportation--all in one place. Numerous topics are arranged like this. Not only that, but the whole book is filled with fun colored artwork to make reading all that more interesting.

This is a wonderful book! I predict that 20,000 Dreams will become a best seller in the dream category--maybe even for the general public. I'd say BUY IT while you can still get the hardback copy. It will be your main dream reference for years to come. It's a big oversize 550 page book with an index. Finally Mary must have her wish to see the ultimate dream book published in an attractive, fun easy-to-read format!
