5.0 out of 5 stars Most informative book on herbs and teas I've ever read!
20,000 Secrets of Tea is the best book I've ever read on the subject of herbs and herbal teas.Unlike some books on herbs and teas, this book is clear-cut and extremely easy to follow. The book also contains many recipes for tea blends and recipes for certain ailments. I was amazed by the amount of information contained in this book. Not only does it contain detailed...

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor research, made-up translations
Based on the Zen principle that "how you do anything is how you do everything", I would say this book is primarily invented by the author. I started looking at her "translations" of the herb names and was floored by her bogus information. For instance, she says that Calendula in France was called "souci du jardin" or, according to Zak "sauce of the garden"! Souci is a...

Not only does it contain detailed descriptions of herbs, but it also gives a summary of traditional and historical uses of herbs. It also lists certain precautions that should be taken when considering herbal remedies. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in how tea and herbs can contribute to their health!

Have a stomach ache? PMS? Then this book is what you need. the natural way of making and drinking tea is in this book of herbs for teas. The origins and properties of these herbs are explained. A natural way to enhance your health. This is cross-referenced to find out any symtom or name of herb. I read a book where the characters where always drinking Red Clover tea and I went to this book to find out that red clover is good for coughs and dry scalp. There is a wealth of information packed in this little book.

I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!

One of the gals at the health food store that I go to recommended this book. If I had to pick only one book on herbal teas, this would be the one. It is a quick, easy reference - and right on the money with the medicinal uses and any cautions that should be taken. I built my 'herbal tea cabinet' based on the advice from this book - and I need a bigger cabinet! (smile)

The cost is just pennies for the 20,000 secrets!

Go for it!

5.0 out of 5 stars I have baught this book twice, January 9, 2007
This review is from: 20,000 Secrets of Tea: The Most Effective Ways to Benefit from Nature's Healing Herbs (Mass Market Paperback)
It's that good. It's basically a alphabetical breakdown of teas and their uses, covering some herbs that are not considered typical tea, Pepper for one. There is also a ailment to herb section. I have used this to breakdown the effects of "over the counter" tea blends. Who cares if it has liquorish root? what the hell does that root do? And will it help my throat? YadaYada, a perfect keeper book.

Did you know that 20,000 Secrets of Tea has been translated into Russian? The Russians know a good thing when they see it.I wouldn't be surprised to see other countries follow Russia's lead. This extraordiary little book--small in size and large in scope, is the loving work of one who relies on the healing value of herbs in everyday life and knowledgably shares the information with us all. Ms Zak knows much about the properties, history and the lore of herbs, and she tells it freely in this delightful as well as useful book. It would make a wonderful gift for anyone who is even peripherally interested in herbs, as well as in helping to heal themselves and their families of a variety of minor and even some major ailments. A pleasure to peruse, this book harks back to the tradition of the Wise Woman who once kept her village healthy with what she gathered from woods, field and garden. Written clearly and with a well honed style, this 20,000 Secrets opf Tea is a special treasure to own and a a helpful text to refer to. Whether you grow your own herbs or buy teas from a healthfood or grocery store, for a variety of reasons you will find Ms Zak's book to be of great help in your everyday life.

This review is from: 20,000 Secrets of Tea: The Most Effective Ways to Benefit from Nature's Healing Herbs (Mass Market Paperback)
This book was extremely informative and very well set up. Everything is straightforward and it is very easy to locate exactly what you are looking for. This was my first book on teas and I understood everything that was said, no technical jargon. With that said, many of the herbs used in this book do not have the proper warnings or listings of what medications they cannot be used with. Also, a few of these have been proved to be carcinogens when ingested so be sure to research the herbs before following these instructions. It turns out, that since I am on birth control, I cannot utilize 85% of the remedies in this book, so be wary if you are on any kind of prescription that requires a delicate balance as this book may prove to be useless unless you want to use herbs in EVERY area of your life.
