In 1966 and 1967, Jack Greene won four awards(CMA's Best Male Vocalist, Best Album, Best Single and Song Of The Year for "There Goes My Everything")and Jeannie Seely won two(CMA's Most Promising New Artist and Grammy for Best Country Performance By A Female). Both went on to become well known and popular Grand Ole Opry members.
Their warm, emotional vocal styles and keen choices of appropriate material were a perfect combination on a prolific number of recordings for the Decca/MCA and Monument labels. Unfortunately, a British Edsel CD compilation is the only available collection of those original recordings for Jack and a long out-of-print Monument compilation is all that is available for Jeannie.
Like many artists who have no control over their recorded works, Jack Greene and Jeannie Seely returned to the studio and reproduced versions of their catalog songs so that their legacy would be available to the public. Yes, these are remakes, but they are close enough in quality to the originals that they are effective.
This twenty song Tee Vee CD release is actually an expanded version of the "Best Of The Best" of Jack Greene that was released on both the Federal and Gusto labels.
This collection includes the Greene signature songs "Statue Of A Fool", "There Goes My Everything", "All The Time", and "You Are My Treasure", and "What Locks The Door".
Among the Seely signatures are "Don't Touch Me", "Can I Sleep in Your Arms", "I'll Love You More", and "It's Only Love".
Three duets are featured: "Wish I Didn't Have To Miss You", "We Don't Want The World", and "Much Oblige".
Also included are the lesser known gems "Back In The Arms Of Love", "I Need Somebody Bad", and the hard-to find "The Last Letter".
Newer material is represented by "Beautiful Lady" and the rocking "California Turnarounds".
This collection should do the trick until the originals are repackaged.

Yet another disc of re-recordings. It's a good thing I don't keep track of how much money I've wasted buying discs I THOUGHT were the original hits, only to find out they were re-recordings done years later. I turned this one in to my local used CD dealer.
