Da Vila has written some of the worlds greatest sambas. And though this three-disc set may be overwhelming neophytes, you gotta give the lable credit for documenting the highpoints of the man's thirty-odd-year career. Beginners may want to start with the more easily digested -- and budget priced -- "Serie Focus."

This CD collection is brilliant. Filled with loads of Samba and partido alto classics, it is a proud symbol of Brazilian music. Martinho da Vila's love of life should serve as an inspiration to us all. CD1 is definitely the best in the set. If you not familiar with Brazilian music but want to build up a collection, this album is a definite must.
