4.0 out of 5 stars wait a doggone minute
Simmer down now, people, this is an eight-dollar and ninety-eight cent CD, not the dang Bear Family. Let's look at what you get: Twenty songs. Right there, you should be thanking your lucky stars at this price, but there's more. Yes, the ends are clipped off of a few songs, and yes there's some surprising applause at the end of at least one that also gets abruptly cut...

1.0 out of 5 stars A good singer trashed
This CD is the worst quality product possible. Often a song's ending is sudden stopped before the music ends. At times, a song is suddenly terminated by a extremly brief audience response. Furthermore, several songs sound like they were done by a Faron Young imitator.

The CD appears to have been done in someone's home and the music does not represent Faron Young performances. My old scratch 45s sound better.

Selling product of this quality could give Amazon a bad name.

Awful. Shortened songs, no original songs, no notes, nothing. I would have been better served to roll down my car window and pitch out 10 bucks. Don't bother on this one. Read the review at the bottom.

Simmer down now, people, this is an eight-dollar and ninety-eight cent CD, not the dang Bear Family. Let's look at what you get: Twenty songs. Right there, you should be thanking your lucky stars at this price, but there's more. Yes, the ends are clipped off of a few songs, and yes there's some surprising applause at the end of at least one that also gets abruptly cut off, but let me tell you something, there is some mighty fine music on this thing. You all know "Hello Walls" but Faron also will give you chills with "When Two Worlds Collide," "Are You Sincere," "Walk Tall," and "Satisfied Mind." I looked at the big Capital years collection and even the Bear Family monster, and these cuts aren't on there. Maybe you find them inferior, but I picked this thing up on cassette a bunch of years ago at the Ernest Tubb record store on Broadway in Nashville, not knowing diddly about Faron Young other than he's namechecked in a song by Prefab Sprout, and I've been playing it ever since. Since then, I've got a whole new appreciation of honky tonk and got a good dose the other night with Wanda Jackson and that other Rockabilly Filly, Rosie Flores. Let me tell you, at the price, this is a steal. Yes, it's imperfect and maybe even made on the cheap, but I love the music and, for me, that is enough. A corrective four stars.

1.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely the worst, April 29, 2006
This review is from: 20 Best Hits (Audio CD)
Not only is the production quality extremely poor as other reviewers have noted, but, if you are a Faron Young fan like me you'll be traumatized!! These recordings were obviously made when he was WELL past his prime. His voice has none of the resonance or range it once did. A big disappointment.

I was familar with the name Faron Young and a few of his songs (four in the morn, and hello walls), but this cd was my first introduction to this man's great style and voice. My appetite has been whetted and I want More.
