Editorial Reviews

Finally reunited with their original singer Michael Sadler, the band is stronger than ever. 20/20 has all that it takes to become an instant progressive rock classic.

The album features 10 brand new songs, never missing the distinctive sound of SAGA's legendary hits. With striking keyboard sounds and Michael Sadler's stunning
vocals, the album has all that it takes to become an instant fan favorite as well as a worldwide classic songs. The opener Six Feet Under features a dominant keyboard
sound, roaring guitars and a chorus you can't get out of your head. Followed by the catchy, high energy driven Anywhere You Wanna Go , SAGA clarifies that their original trademark sound is still going strong. The emotional ballad Lost For Words once again demonstrates Sadler's incredible vocal range and charisma.

The title 20/20 first of all refers to the album being the 20th of SAGA, but in addition it's a good luck wish to Jim Gilmour, who had to undergo an eye operation during
SAGA's latest European tour. 20/20 stands for the perfect eyesight.

5.0 out of 5 stars Back to Original Form - Welcome Back to 1980 July 25, 2012
By Ryan S.
Format:MP3 Music|Amazon Verified Purchase
Albeit the year 2012, you would think we were all transported back to 1979 or 1980 with Saga's latest incarnation "20/20." Do not take this as a negative critique though. The majority of the most recent studio tracks could easily have been B-Sides from either the "Silent Knight" or "Images at Twilight" albums. Some fans say that this sound is old and they need to "evolve" with time. Well, remember when they did that in the late 1980's and the early 1990's? The results were less than memorable. I have each of their studio albums and for my money; their staple sound established in the late 1970's and early 1980's is the sound I prefer. When Saga creates sounds, melodies, drum beats, synthesizer crescendos and soaring guitar riffs that echo those of yesteryear, that is the place I want to be when I listen to their newer works. Obviously, the return of Sadler is no doubt a crucial element in the return to their iconic sound. Journey without Steve Perry and Yes without Jon Anderson are simply shells of bands that pretend to relive greater glories of day's past. Saga with Sadler can now continue forward and bring us all the sounds that the true fans have grown to appreciate and expect over the many years of their existence. "20/20" brings the true fan back to that day when they first heard Saga; no doubt it was "On the Loose" for many, as it was for me. Memorable tracks for me are "Anywhere You Wanna Go," "Spin It Again" and "Show and Tell." This new one will no doubt get countless plays from the cloud and from my USB flash drive in the car. So much so, my wife will be begging to listen to Yes or Genesis, and she is not even a fan of those bands.

5.0 out of 5 stars REFRESHING RETURN FOR SADLER July 19, 2012
Format:Audio CD
The new Saga cd is incredible... Its great to have Michael Sadler back as the lead singer after taking a one album break from the band... This new cd is the best work the band has done since Worlds Apart!!! Musically, the band is better than ever...Of course there is a strong keyboard presence with Sadler back in the fold, but this is the best that Ian Crichton has sounded on Guitar since the aforementioned Worlds Apart album... Crichton totally just tears it up on this album...Saga isn't usually known for a lot of guitar solos, but 20/20 has lots of them and they are all great!!! The album starts off rockin' and ends rockin'...A couple of ballads thrown in for good measure but they are far from filler....If this Saga album would have been released in the 80's it would have sold at least a million copies!!!! Yes, it is that good!!! If you are a fan of the band this is a Must Have for your collection....If you are not a Saga fan, this would be an Awesome time to get on the bandwagon!!!This is an album that you listen to start to finish and it makes you feel good...Great energy and uplifting music!!!! You will not be disappointed.... Thank you for your time....

5.0 out of 5 stars SAGA'S BACK! August 27, 2012
By segra
Format:MP3 Music|Amazon Verified Purchase
As a previous reviewer noted: "An excellent return to form", and I couldn't agree more. With the return of Michael Sadler, 20/20 is a must have for any SAGA/Prog Rock fan! Worlds Apart is still my fav, but this album has just shot up to 2nd.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great album that is a lot of fun to listen to. Easter eggs!
I was a huge Saga fan from about 1980 to around 1985 or so. They and Rush were my two favorite bands and I was totally bought in. Saga was just what us young musicians admired. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars One of their best
Back in the wood-toned, shag-rugged late 1970's, progressive rock was getting a bad name. Critics were calling it "pretentious" and "pompous". Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars A long awaited release
Unfortunately this is not a comeback album, most songs quite forgettable. Still a couple of tracks rekindled some of their earlier work. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars let a few songs drift with you
Ball and Chain immediately grabs my attention, and namely because I have seen so little on it. It is a song that has some power and swagger to it, a melody that makes you want to... Read more

Mmm, you may be right; but I think it's also possible that Saga was doing a parody rather than plageurizing. They have that kind of sense of humor. I could easily see them chuckling at inserting their quasi-mascot, Albert Einstein, into the same picture, not because they're trying to look more... Read more
