Great 80's Soundtrack...,
By "naomiii" (New York, NY USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 200 Cigarettes: Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
If you like the movie, then you'll love the soundtrack. 200 Cigarettes was filled with 80's nostalgia and great 80's pop hits--there were so many good songs, but somehow they managed to cut it down to 15 tracks (a few of the best songs are missing). Still, I love EVERY song on this CD- it's a perfect mix. My favorites are Just What I Needed (The Cars), Save it For Later (Harvey Danger), Our Lips Are Sealed (the Go-Go's), I Want Candy (Bow Wow Wow), I Don't Care (The Ramones) and Romeo & Juliet (Dire Straits). This is one of the CDs that never seems to leave my stereo- I'd recommend it to any 80's music fan.

Some Great Songs,
By A Customer
This review is from: 200 Cigarettes: Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
Most people thought the movie was boring, but I loved its' nostalgia and especially great performances from Christina Ricci, Kate Hudson, and Casey Affleck. The soundtrack is a million times better including a BLONDIE mix which rocks, Nick Lowe's CRUEL TO BE KIND, a smashing new Harvey Danger song (you know the people who sing "Paranoia, Paranoia, everybody's coming to get me...") that's called SAVE IT FOR LATER, my favorite track is also a Dire Straits ballad, ROMEO AND JULIET, not to mention the CARS best song to date JUST WHAT I NEEDED, and 80's pop tunes such as LADIES NIGHT, OUR LIPS ARE SEALED, and I WANT CANDY. Great album, love!

Fun Soundtrack!,

Never saw the movie, but I found this sndtrk in a bargain bin and took it with me on my road trip back home. Super variety! No problem falling asleep in the car (I was singing!) I believe one or two from Devo assembled the score. No wonder it's sooooo cool!
Just for the record, some reviewers have it wrong. The song "Save It For Later" is by the English Beat; NOT Buddy Holly or General Public!! Sheesh. Check out "What Is Beat?" Great stuff there.

80s Music + Harvey Danger = Perfection,
By A Customer
This review is from: 200 Cigarettes: Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
I'm a huge fan of Harvey Danger and 80s music, so I figured I'd check out this CD. Well, it's amazing! The Danger boys have proved they can excel in Buddy Holly - ish pop as well as alternative. And all of my favorite 80s groups (Blondie, The Cars, Ramones) are on the CD too. A great party CD!

I've always enjoyed Harvey Danger's rendition of "Save It For Later", The Cars' classic "Just What I Needed" and Dire Straits' "Romeo and Juliet." Today, I checked to see what else is on the album, but, to my dismay, Amazon posts only the song titles and NOT the artists. This is not particularly helpful, is it? Therefore, I took the liberty of looking these up on another website and posting them below.

I enjoyed this soundtrack because Disco and 80's music is timeless. Also recommend Blue Crush, Swingers, The Last Days of Disco soundtracks!

Cool 80's New Wave,
By A Customer
This review is from: 200 Cigarettes: Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
I was only 4 months old when the movie was set and I haven't seen it yet, but as a big fan of early new wave (especially Blondie, whose No Exit track with Coolio was just awesome)I'll recommend this CD. It's worth it just for Just What I Needed by the Cars, but then there's also that Candy song which is fun and anything by the Go-Gos is cool by me. Oh yeah, and i was happily surprised to hear "Ladies Night" in all its campy disco glory.

This soundtrack apitomizes the music of the eighties.,

I loved the music of the late seventies and the eighties. I was in my twenties at the time and could not get enough of the amazing stuff that kept coming out. I listened to the radio all the time, and found a couple of stations that played only the kind of songs which you didn't hear on the top forty radio stations, all of which are on this soundtrack. "Nowhere Girl" was one of my favorites at the time and I was thrilled to hear it for the first time in about thirteen years. I do, however, like the original version of "Sooner or Later" by General Public better than Harvey Danger's. But, it's a small price to pay for the coolest music soundtrack I've ever heard.
