200 Great Scrapbook Layout Ideas is a wonderful collection of completed scrapbook layout pages. Almost all of the ideas are in the 12x12" format and most are done on white backgrounds, simliar in style to the Creative Memories books. If you love the Creative Memories line then you will probably enjoy this book too. The ideas are basic, clean ideas - there are no complicated "new" things to try. For the type of scrapper who loves to just follow a layout idea like a recipe, this book is perfect. There is only one thing wrong with the book - thee are no details given about the materials used for each layout and no writing to explain what was done on the page. An absolute beginner might find this frustrating, but I was able to look at the ideas and figure out how to copy the layout using if not identical materials, at least a suitable substitute. Don't let the awful, bland cover of this book fool you - the book is in full color and is a terrific resource for the beginner-intermediate level scrapper.

This was the only book that I have bought through Amazon that has disappointed me. If I had leaved through this book at a bookstore, I would never have purchased it. The layout ideas are so average that one sees them everywhere, on the web, in friends scrapbooks. Not in a layout idea book. The pictures in the layouts are sometimes haphazardly put out. The format is small so that one has to squint to see the details. And I can get almost all the ideas from my Creative Memory Idea Books. There are no explanations for the beginner, no step by step instructions. And it is too simple for those who want to take their work to the next level. However, these might be just the qualities that a lot of people are looking for.

I bought this book for my elaborate scrapbooking library.

I was amazed at it's simplicity. These layouts are nothing more than poor imitations of Creative Memory ideas. The same layouts are used throughout the book with different pictures. They are nothing more than a couple of women's actual pages - mistakes and all. You would think that the editors would request that Minnie Mouse be spelled correctly and that the artists would want to include only the best pages that they could.

Very poor skills here, my worst pages look better than their best. Pictures are tilted (not on purpose), lettering is awful, and I'm amazed that this book even made it to print.

If you want some good ideas, don't waste your money on this book. Look around instead: you can find a much bigger bang for your buck with a magazine, or if you like the CM style, just get one of the 'professional' idea books that they publish.

As a beginner in the world of scrapbooking, I have found this book a very valuable addition to my scrapbooking supplies! There are layout ideas with holiday, family, vacation and every-day general themes. These are layouts that anyone can recreate and modify to suit their own needs. I was tired of flipping through books that only had 5 layouts and a hundred pages of advertisements - this was *exactly* what I have been looking for! My only "complaint" is that the pictures could have been bigger, and I wish that they had included the "ingredients" as they did with their second book "200 More Great Scrapbook Layout Ideas" (another *great* book for scrapbooking!)

I thought that this book provided a number of excellent ideas! The layouts are large enough so that the journaling can be easily read. I used this idea book a bunch and would recommend it to others. The only thing I was slightly disappointed in is that the ingredients were not listed but if you're creative you should have no problem duplicating anything in this book. Most of the items used are commonly found from the various scrapbook suppliers. I think this is an excellent idea book!

I bought both books and really like them. The ideas are large and easy to see with a lot of variety. My scrapbooking friends like the books too. It's an IDEA book, not just another magazine full of ads.

Good layout ideas but only pictures shown. If you only want to see pages and pages of scrapbook layouts...then this is the book for you. If you're like me and need to see a bit more detail or instructions.....don't buy this book.

If I had been able to look at this in a bookstore I would never have bought it. This book is just photographs of someones album pages and they are not very inspiring at all. If you are looking for layout ideas, this book is not the place to get them. I am amazed it ever got published.

I really like this book. It is exactly as stated, with no ads or extra "stuff" that you don't need. The ideas are large and easy to see.

Great idea book! I have been scrapbooking for years and don't want to "dig through" instructional articles to be disappointed to find a small pictured idea. This book is exactly what it says, an idea book, with lots of pictures and no articles. I look forward to the next volume.
