200 Stitch Patterns for Baby Blankets by Jan Eaton is an easy to read book with crochet and knitting patterns. The patterns are explained well and the closeup pictures are a big help. My only problem with the book is that I only know how to crochet and after seeing all of the neat knitting patterns I am anxious to learn how to knit.

This book is a must have for anyone who loves to crochet or knit! Easy to follow directions! Not just for babies! Skill levels from beginner to expert. If you love to knit or crochet, you need this book in your craft library!

I mostly agree with the other reviewers' positive comments.

To briefly add to the discussion, I will therefore highlight my negatives:

The book would have been better organized by type of pattern, by application (shawl, pram cover etc.), knitted, crocheted etc. This way, when I want to find something later I have a hope of finding it!!

It would have been nice to see more than the very few full sized items based on the patterns in the book, rather than just swatches.

That said, this is still a worthwhile and inspiring book if you want to make baby blankets. Many of the stitches would work well for many other items as well.

200 Stitch Patterns for Baby Blankets includes helpful tips and techniques for knitting and crocheting, yarns and colors, and great edging patterns. I especially like that the patterns are rated for the level of skill needed to complete a project. It saved me a great deal of frustration and probably an unfinished project. It is also helpful that each pattern tells us (especially beginners) the method of working the project (horizontal rows, worked in rounds, diagonal rows, filet, etc.). The photographs offer additional visual help.

Tuck Eaton's book on the shelf in your craft library. It will be used over and over again. And you will be the author of many beautiful items for personal use and for some lovely gifts.

This is another creative and interesting book by Jan Eaton. The pattern information is very explicit and the directions are easy to follow, even the more difficult pattern stitches.

Wonderful patterns that make me want to knit and crochet so many of the patterns provided. Great for inspiration, and the patterns I have followed so far are so trust-worthy and accurate. A+++. :)
