There are many counterfeit '2000 China Silver Panda 1 Troy Ounce 10-Yuan' coins for sale at the moment.
This coin has two varieties -- the frosted and mirrored varieties -- depending on whether the outer ring on the obverse of the coin with the 'Temple of Heaven' in the center has a frosted or mirrored surface. The mirrored variety is scarcer, and is more prone to counterfeiting.
Some of the features on the authentic coin include:-
1. The obverse and reverse of the coin are not inverted. 2. The denomination and face value of the coin are present, together with the country of issue, that is, the People's Republic of China. The numbers '2000' are centered right below the image of the 'Temple of Heaven' on the obverse of the coin. 3. There are four posts on the lowest row of the 'Temple of Heaven' on the obverse of the coin. 4. There is no absence of silver on any part of the coin. 5. The reeding on the edge is straight, not slanted.
The frosted '2000 China Silver Panda 1 Troy Ounce 10-Yuan' coin that I bought from Amazon Marketplace has the above features. It is a beautiful coin, with a mintage of only 600,000 coins.
The obverse of the coin shows the 'Temple of Heaven' in the center with a frosted outer ring. The Chinese characters for the People's Republic of China are engraved on top of the image of the 'Temple of Heaven', along the outer ring. The year of issue -- 2000 -- is engraved below the image of the 'Temple of Heaven', along the outer ring.
The reverse of the coin shows a panda playing with a bamboo shoot and sitting on a bed of bamboo twigs.Read more ›
