Book Description

December 15, 2000 Hispanic Scholarship Directory
The only book of its kind, The 2000 Hispanic Scholarship Directory is a must for all Hispanics in college and those headed for college. Also useful to high schools, colleges, libraries and community organizations, this is the first time a book that has focused solely on scholarships for Hispanics. Representing 10% of the U.S. population, Hispanics are the fastest-growing demographic segment. This directory contains over 500 scholarships available to Hispanic students and international students from Latin America. Information includes specifics on: Private and public scholarships; Loan programs; National grant programs sponsored by the federal government; Resources provided by a number of state programs. Both local and national scholarships are profiled and detailed, and extended information is offered on 20 of the scholarships. The book also contains helpful information on college programs covering Chicano, Cuban, Puerto Rican, Latin American and other Hispanic-oriented studies.

As part of the acclaimed Stepping Stone to Success series, this comprehensive guide will help Hispanic students obtain funds for college. Included also are articles that will help them understand the importance of college, including articles on the history of Hispanics in college, an article on recent changes in scholarships for Hispanics and a step-by-step explanation of how a scholarship program was developed by a successful Latino businessman at his high school alma mater.

The 2000 Hispanic Scholarship Directory was compiled in conjunction with the National Association of Hispanic Publications, a business association of over 160 newspapers and magazines with a combined circulation of over 9 million.

3.0 out of 5 stars I thought the book could have been better., August 21, 2001

This review is from: The 2000 Hispanic Scholarship Directory (Paperback)
This book was an intresting read, but I thought it could have focused more on general scholarships for all students, rather than scholarships for students who go to specific colleges.
