One of the best authors in romance,
This review is from: 2000 Kisses (Mass Market Paperback)
On December 31, 1999, in Boston harbor, public relations specialist Tess O'Mara hosts a shipboard party that she has planned, dreamed, and is now executing for the past two years. For the next six-months, guests will sail on a luxurious cruise to celebrate the new millennium. Her boss promises Tess a large bonus. Since he is rich and willing to spend money, Tess expects a generous bonus. On New Year's Day 2000, Tess checks to see if the expected reward has made it into her bank account. The ATM informs her she has $1,000,000 in her account. Tess is a bit surprised, but since she successfully pulled off the opening Millennium event that will bring in millions to the business, she believes it might be hers. After spending a large sum of money, Tess calls her brother a T-man who tells her to leave town immediately. He thinks a Y2K glitch has deposited illegal money in her account. She goes to the safety of Almost, Arizona where his friend T.J. McCall is sheriff. The two opposites feel the immediate attraction and begin to fall in love, but must contend with the money launderers who have traced Tess to Arizona. Even if they live, they know she belongs in Boston while he belongs in Almost. 2000 KISSES centers on a Y2K financial glitch that leads readers to a taut romantic suspense. The fast-paced story line contains humorous elements mostly provided by the secondary cast who want the charming lead couple to remain together. Indian mysticism adds a bit of local flavor to the mix. With exciting novels like 2000 KISSES, the sky's the limit for the incomparable Christina Skye. Harriet Klausner

WOW - What a page turner!,

First book of Ms. Skye's that I had the pleasure to read -- Very timely story with Y2K just happening! Tess is a very successful ad-exec who finds $1M mysteriously deposited into her bank account on 1/1/2000. After a spirited spending spree (she ends up with a baby blue Mercedes Convertable! ), Tess finds out that she's spent someone's money; that someone being a very dangerous group money launderers etc... She has to run for her life, at her brother's recommendation to a little town, Almost Arizona. She ends up with a Cowboy/Sherriff that is Mel Gibson's lookalike (WOW If I could have that kind of luck!). She finds that she's spiritually drawn to the town through American Indian mysticism & ancient spirits that beckon to her. Its a really cool story - very imaginitive. TJ McCall is one very sexy man! I read the book in 2 days; couldn't put it down.

Ms. Skye has given readers a rare treat with her new book 2000 Kisses. I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fast-paced, thoroughly entertaining read. Pour yourself a glass of bubbly, kick back and bring the millenium in in style, as Ms. Skye has done with her new book.

Ms. Skye has the wonderful ability to entertain her audience with her writing. Whether it's historical, paranormal, or contemporary, her imagination and talent continuously creates winners, and 2000 Kisses is no exception.Tess O'Mara is on a working cruise when a stranger makes a prediction about her, which puts an unattached Tess in hopes of her future and the chance at a life long love. With the cruise and New Years day behind her, Tess finds her promised bonus is a little more. Did I say little? It's a lot more than she expected. Once she starts spending, her worried brother, who thinks it's something more, steps in and sends her to a friend for safe keeping. Sheriff McCall sounds like every woman's dream, but the dreams, or visions, Tess has are very unusual and mysterious... possibly dangerous. I enjoyed Ms. Skye's creation of Almost, Arizona and the characters that reside there. It gave the story an inviting, comfortable feel. This one is definitely a good read.

Terrible, Terrible, terrible!,

Tell me something. Why even bother to make a heroine an intelligent, competent, capeable woman, repected by her peers and very good at her job when no more than fifty pages into the book you are going to turn her into a flake? Honestly, it was like an alien abduction. A practical, professional ad-exec buys a powder blue Mercedes and proceedes to not have a single thought for the rest of the book. Tess goes west, and mutates somehow into a mindless, helpless, sniveling being, whose only purpose for the next 250 pages is to be repeatedly rescued by the domineering, though sexy, hero, and show up in time for the sex scenes. And as if that weren't bad enough to make the book worthy of being sat on by an elephant, the plot is jumbled and convoluted, with several extremely flimsey mysteries that hold water like a whiffle ball and quickly disolve into thin air. Where exactly was this money supposed to have come from? And at this point, does ANYONE really care, since the money thing has been dropped, too. The only good thing about the book was Tess's past life regression to an Anasazi cliff dweller, but that also disappeared about half-way through, leaving the reader with out a single excuse for having wasted about three hours of my valuable time.

Christina does it again! Top notch!,

Ignore those reviews that trash this book. It is excellent, well thought out, fast paced, and a great read. The title makes the book sound light, but in reality it is very strong. BUY IT! I've been a fan of Christina's since the beginning and was not disappointed when the venue moved from Britain to the desert Southwest. The mysticism is wonderfully done and more subtle than in the Draycott Abbey books. The shape-shifter is wonderful. I look forward to reading more stories from Almost as well as the Draycott Abbey books.

It's so nice to see fans of great writing praising my favorite, Christina Skye. She hooked me on her historicals, and now I'm reading contemporaries, just because of her. I envy anyone who has not read her books yet, they have a great treat awaiting them. Me, I've read and reread them and wait eagerly for her next book. Why do we love Skye? Characters, dialogue, pacing, and as a bonus a lesson in the craft of writing for all of us aspiring writers out here.

Christina Skye brought the Southwest to life for me. This is a town and a story you'll never forget. Just the right mix of romance, suspense and humor. It's not Draycott Abbey, but you will love these characters just as much. Highly recommended.

A FUN READ!,
This review is from: 2000 Kisses (Mass Market Paperback)
To start with,i loved the cover art.The book was what i had expected it to be,a fun read.Tess O'mara was a character that most women could easily relate to.A woman with a life that appears full but is really lacking.'ALMOST'was a greatplace to set the story.I found that the characters who lived in the town were a great element to the book!T.J.McCall was brilliant!Who wouldn't fall in love with him!? Christina, you hve done it again! The ending was brilliant and very sweet. If you haven't got "2000 KISSES" get it.

The unexpected,
This review is from: 2000 Kisses (Mass Market Paperback)
I have to admit when I picked up this book, the combination of the title, and Y2K theme did not intrigue me. In fact, I thought I was going to finish the novel dissatisfied. I was wrong. What starts off as a trite-sounding plot becomes very really. Ms. Skye fleshed out the characters and made what could have been a cliched plot absolutely wonderful. I felt thrown for a loop when she added the southwestern mystery to an already complex plot. I cannot rave enough about this book. For those of you that read the cover and think (like I did) "oh, no, will the Y2K hype never end! " put that out of your mind and settle in for a pleasurable read.
