Editorial Reviews

From the Author

My motive in writing this book is simple; it is my desire to help educate advisors on how to develop a retirement distribution strategy for clients who desperately need help in solving major retirement distribution concerns. Advisors need to realize that clients may be completely unaware of the need for this type of planning. A client's retirement distribution concerns typically surface as a result of tax issues derived from the minimum distribution tax laws. Their concerns erupt when they face the financial and personal impact the tax law has on their retirement wealth. Retirement distribution planning actually goes far beyond the issue of retirement assets and reaches deep into even the personal aspects of our clients' lives. The knowledge and tools you will receive from this book can pave the way for a successful career as a retirement distribution specialist or can be used on an as-needed basis with clients.

From the Inside Flap

As more Americans prepare for their golden years, consulting on retirement asset distrubtions becomes an increasingly lucrative area of specialization. This new guide discusses how to advise these clients on a host of hot issues. You'll be able to give expert counsel on: -Avoiding the loss of retirement savings -Maximizing tax deferrals -Minimizing estate taxes -Accomplishing charitable goals through retirement distributions -Using life insurance to achieve retirement distribution and estate planning goals -And more!

This review is from: 2000 Planning for Retirement Distributions: Tax, Financial, and Personal Aspects (With CD-ROM) (Paperback)
This is a great reference book for anyone who gives financial planning advice to clients. The authors detail the best ways in which to set up, and make changes to IRAs, in order to get the best result for the IRA owner and beneficiaries.

A lot of real world experience is evident from the author's explanations of the methods recommended for use in dealing with individuals and families, and their retirement planning. Technical issues are dealt with comprehensively as well as the human element, which is often overlooked in a technical publication.

How IRA money is best used in estate planning is covered in detail. For estate planning the authors also give a very detailed explanation of how life insurance can be used to pay estate taxes, leaving the bulk of a large estate intact. The chapter goes into great detail about the life insurance industry, types of policies and the pros and cons of life insuranace illustations.
