5.0 out of 5 stars Smooth and Sexy
Tyrese's new album 2000 Watts is one of the best albums I've heard so far thats been released in 2001. It's the long awaited album since his 1998 debut album. The first single I Like Them Girls is the perfect R&B summer song, you guys will love it if you haven't heard it already, really great song. I Ain't The One is my favorite track on the album, a Rodney Jerkins...

3.0 out of 5 stars Trendy, of-the-moment R&B
Tyrese has the looks, the body, and the voice, but he lacks the songs. His self-titled disc was a promising debut, but this new one offers little more than trendy, ready-for-BET/MTV r&b. His producers (Rodney Jerkins and Jermaine Dupri amongs others) add almost no surprises here, although the Babyface ballad "There for Me" stands out. Other than that,...

The first single I Like Them Girls is the perfect R&B summer song, you guys will love it if you haven't heard it already, really great song. I Ain't The One is my favorite track on the album, a Rodney Jerkins produced tracks about the desire for a love thats not based on material things. Just A Baby Boy is another great song with Snoop Dogg. Other mentionable tracks include Off The Heazy, Get Up On It, For Always and Bring You Back My Way. If you want to hear a really good R&B cd this is the one for you, Tyrese has a beautiful voice that is smooth and sexy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tyrese 2000 Watts, March 14, 2003
This review is from: 2000 Watts (Audio CD)
Tyrese's second album "2000 Watts" (2001) has some nice music. After watching movie "Baby Boy" decided to buy this one. Album is Executive produced by Tyrese, Greg Parks and Anthony Morgan, with guest appearances coming from Snoop Dogg, Mr. Tan, Jermaine Dupri and Sole. Album opens with "I like Dem Girls" tribute track to the ladies, and is followed by "I aint the One" a fast paced song, both tracks are decent but nothing special. First stand out song for me is "Just a Baby Boy" Feat. Snoop Dogg and Mr. Tan the song that was used for the movie, a nice Rap/R&B collabration track. "Make up Your Mind" follows and is song about committment. Babyface produced "There for Me" is a soulful love song, a tribute to a special lady. On "I'm Sorry" Tyrese goes deeper, and comes up with a throughly memorable and enjoyable track. My favourite track is "What am I going to do" an enduring love song, Tyreses flow and lyrics are soulful and memorable. "Fling" and "Off the Heezy" feat. Jermaine Dupri follow, the first is decent and the second is ugly, sure some Rap/R&B collabs are good but others are not, this being an example of one of those. "Get up on It" feat. Sole is a subpar filler track. "Housekeepin'" thankfully comes and is a enjoyable song about short term romance. On "For Always" Tyrese truly shines, with an epic love song. Final track is a slowjam called "Bring you Back my Way", which closes off album well. Although there are some subpar tracks on this album, there are other tracks that really stand out and make "2000 Watts" an album worth having.

5.0 out of 5 stars Second Time Around Is Even Sweeter, June 5, 2001

Tyrese came on the scene with an exceptional debut.. That had two of the best ballads i have heard in a while Sweet Lady and Lately respectively.. Tyrese is back stronger then ever working with relatively unknown producers but that doesnt take away from how good this CD is. Best moments on this CD is when Tyrese concentrates on the ballads this is his forte that is no more evident then on the Babyface produced "There For Me(Baby)", the best of the ballads on the CD in my opinion is the Bob & Tim tune I'm Sorry for anyone that might not be familiar with Bob & Tim they are responsible for a big hit for Case " Missing You".. This song has the same type of vibe as Missing You.. What Am I Gonna Do, House Keeping, The very romantic ballad " For Always" this song could be another one of those wedding anthems..

There are some hot uptempo tunes on this Cd as well among the highlites the current single I Like Them Girls, The G-Funk Flavor Battlecat Produced " Just A Baby Boy" Featuring Snoop Dogg and new Comer Mr. Tan this song is also featured in the upcoming motion picture " Baby Boy" Which Tyrese and Snoop Dogg stars in. Jermaine Dupri is on board produced the best of the uptempo tracks with the tune " Off The Heazy".. Rodney " Darkchild" Jerkins produced I Aint The One song dealing with him telling the young lady that he doesnt have to buy material things to prove his love to her..

This is an excellent CD should get a lot of spins in your CD player.. Second time around is even better then the first.. If you are a fan of Tyrese or just an r&b lover "2000 Watts" belong in your CD collection..

His producers (Rodney Jerkins and Jermaine Dupri amongs others) add almost no surprises here, although the Babyface ballad "There for Me" stands out. Other than that, it's "girl" this and "shorty" that. And do we really need to be subjected to another guest appearance by Snoop Dogg? "2000 Watts" is as good as it needs to be if you're looking for of-the-moment top 40: you'll be bobbing your head to the beat, but in 6 months time you probably won't remember half the titles of these songs or how they even went.

I bought this cd because I really liked Tyrese's first single "I Like Them Girls." I got the cd last week and hate it! I really haven't listened to a lot of it and have absolutely NO desire to whatsoever--so what's that tell you. I'm sooo disappointed, it was such a waste of money. I'm just definately not feelin it, not good.

5.0 out of 5 stars great cd, March 14, 2004
This review is from: 2000 Watts (Audio CD)
i wasnt too crazy about his 1st cd but i stuck with him because i knew he had it in him to blow me away. sweet lady was really the only song of its type on there and i love that song. this cd i just loved. if you liked sweet lady then you will probably like this cd. my boyfriend argued with me about tyrese's talent but this cd shut him up and he even gave him his credit:) this cd is great i think he grows with each album and the man can just sing. he has it all and i hope he has a very successful career.

this cd is well worth gettin'. if ya like ya good smooth love makin music then you should well get it. my fav on the album is either 'Im Sorry' or 'Bring You Back My Way' both of these are slow n smooth. his voice is unique n this album is gooooood. not as good as 'Joe - All That I Am' because that album is the god of R&B albums, but this album is better than 'Donell Jones - Life Goes On'. id give this album a good solid 5 star. if ya want any more good advice then get the album n see for ya self coz its well worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars So Fresh and So Hot, July 6, 2001

First let me state that I am of the thirtysomething era. (32 to be exact). I love music, all kinds. I am actually a Tupac fan, but I truly enjoy listening to this CD "2000 Watts" just like I enjoyed listening to his previous CD, and you really can't compare the two. This CD to me is a definite product of Tyrese realizing his blessings. I give him all the credit in world for making a CD in this era that deals with relationships in a positive way. He deals with them very emotionally. My favorites are "Make up your mind, Lord you control me, I'm sorry (something you don't here from a man of any age say to often) and What am I going to do." Tyrese, keep up the great work, focus, and believe in yourself when others may not.

2.0 out of 5 stars I'm soooo mad at this.., October 23, 2001
By
High Desert Woman (Up in the Bronx where the people are fresh, NY) - See all my reviews

The cleverly marketed "idea" of Tyrese is cool. A tall, dark, good looking guy with beautiful teeth unfortunately, that's where it ends. Yes, he has a voice but he has no style. No direction. He has no signature. For this reason, it is hard to be impressed by Tyrese. If he was a back-up singer, I would not expect so much; But he's not! He's the lead, and I expect him to do just that...LEAD! Tyrese, dig deeper musically (and within yourself) before attempting to release another CD. I could be persuaded to buy shirt, but a CD.... "I'm not gon be able to do it!". I saw him live, 3 years ago, and it was the same effect. Tyrese leaves the audience with a very vague impression. I wanted to be impressed but just couldn't figure out "why" I should have been. The sad part is...he's probably mad cool. For me, you can't just package and giftwrap a model coupled with some "okey doke" ballads and expect "true" ladies of music to fall for it. I'm not hatin' ... I'm just not impressed. Check out Olu's SoulCatcher cd, that's is a PRIME example of an album with direction.
