5.0 out of 5 stars The most durable comedy routine in history.
Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner will never wear out their welcome as long as they keep updating and improving their "2000 Year Old Man" routine, as evidenced by "The 2000 Year Old Man In the Year 2000." Mel Brooks is one of the funniest people on the planet and Carl Reiner is perfectly restrained in his role as interviewer. If this CD doesn't make you...

3.0 out of 5 stars These Guys Are Still Funny
This album is a useful part of anyone's repertoire if you just want a good laugh provided by two old pros in the comedy business. There's nothing complicated; just good fun.

If this CD doesn't make you laugh out loud throughout, then your sense of humor has been destroyed by decades of watching lame sitcoms such as "Three's Company" and "Full House." Long live Mel and Carl!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perhaps the funniest 40 minutes on CD, September 9, 2003
This review is from: The 2000 Year Old Man In The Year 2000: The Album (Audio CD)
I a fair amount of comedy CDs, and this is easily the best. Mel Brooks is at his funniest, pretending to be a 2000+ year old man, even trhough parts of it would make you think he is actually 3000+ years old.

It does get a little bawdier at the end, with the f-word used a bit in the end, but its nothing worse tha the bulk of public TV nowadays.

Enjoy it; you will if you listen to it.

I'm thrilled to know the 2000 Year Old Man is alive, well, and still kicking. I found this CD while looking for The Complete 2000 Year Old Man CD collection. Sadly, the collection is no longer offered by the manufacturer. But I HAD to have this one. It did not disappoint. I could picture everything in my mind as he spoke of times gone by. The humour is as fresh on this performance as on the originals.

The one problem is that you'll be using catch words and phrases and only another member of the 2000 Year Old Man fan club will understand.

Please, please, re-issue the complete collection!!! Let's start a petition. And eat a nectarine it's a heck of fruit.

I have always had fond memories of the wit both Carl Reiner and Mel Brooks have exhibited. This Album certainly lives up to their reputation. When replays of the album segments still generate laughs, that tells you this is a winner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Poking Fun at History, February 15, 2010
If you never heard the 2000 year old man, you missed a lot of great comedy.

The 2009 Kennedy Center Honoree Mel Brooks and Mark Twain Winner Carl Reiner pokes fun at history, legends (Robin Hood. Paul Revere) as well as life itself. It is funny look at history that will make you smile as they poke fun in the eyes of history. Reiner plays straight man to Brooks's peppered and sagely sage...and its works so well.

This three disc set includes all five albums that the 2000 year man appeared. This included the Grammy winning comedy album, The 2000 Year old man in the year 2000. These comedy sketches that Brooks and Reiner do in tandem almost never seem to date themselves. You will gag with whimsy until you are hurting from the belly laughing.

The fourth disk is a DVD. One of the highlights is an animated short of the 2000 year old man which appeared on TV in 1975. There are other TV appearances and a 2009 interview with Reiner and Brooks discussing the origins of the 2000 year old man.

I just they do another 2000 Year old man for the year 2010. So If you want to laugh and laugh a lot, buy this box set.

The concept is decades old, but it still works.
It works extremely well. This is very funny.
Those worried about the language can make a
censored version on their home computer.
It will not be much shorter than the original.

4.0 out of 5 stars Still funny, but not as funny, May 29, 2007
This review is from: The 2000 Year Old Man In The Year 2000: The Album (Audio CD)
The original package of four "2000-yr-old Man" discs is where it's at. They kept it clean, so my kids could enjoy it, too. There's a lot of explicit language on this disc, which is disappointing. Still, it's good enough, and the chemistry is still there between Brooks and Reiner.

5.0 out of 5 stars I gotta get all the 2000 year old man records, January 22, 2006
This review is from: The 2000 Year Old Man In The Year 2000: The Album (Audio CD)
Mel Brooks improvising answers to Carl Reiner's straight interview questions. This one after they'd already done this bit decades ago. Funny stuff. In fact, I've rarely ever played any comedy album more than 1 or 2 times except for the Woody Allen Stand Up Comedy 2 record set material from 1964-1968.

This stuff is funny and I like hearing it again, say once a year on average. Sorta like watching a good movie again. There's hardly any klinkers on this album, maybe none.

I'm just glad they've done several of these albums. The idea is sound and Reiner and Brooks play perfectly off each other. Reiner is just barely not too stuffy enough to be a good straight man to Brooks who just barely is able to keep from totally unraveling. In fact, I think it's Reiner who keeps Brooks reined in and Brooks who keeps Reiner from getting too stiff. Funny stuff kids. A gotta own album. chrisbct@hotmail.com

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Laughs, November 5, 2007
This review is from: The 2000 Year Old Man In The Year 2000: The Album (Audio CD)
The 2000 Year Old Man in the Year 2000, is enjoyable from start to finish. It is a great CD to have in the car and it is a big help in making the traffic tieups bearable. I found myself laughing while driving, and arriving at my destination in a very upbeat mood as a result. I have purchased extra copies for friends, and they share my enthusiasm.
