The 2002-02 UCLA Men's Basketball Media Guide is produced primarily for use by media covering the Top 10 squad. The guide includes a preview and analysis of the 2001-02 Bruins, sketches about the players and coaching staff, previews about UCLA;s opponents, a review of the Bruins' 2000-01 23-victory season, several pages about the history and tradition of UCLA, a detailed UCLA basketball record book, and a full description about the University, its staff, its programs and its facilities. Coach Steve Lavin's UCLA Bruins are the team to beat in the powerful Pac 10 Conference. Four of Lavin's five starters return from last season's Bruins squad, a team that's reached the NCAA Tournament's "Sweet 16" four times in the last five seasons. Six-foot-eight-inch forward Jason Kapono, a first-team All-Pac 10 player last season, 6-11 center Dan Gadzuric, 6-8 forward Matt Barnes, and 6-6 guard billy Knight give UCLA plenty of fire power. Add veterans Ray Young and Rico Hines and high school All-Americans Cedric Bozeman, Andre Patterson and Dijon Thompson, and the pieces appear in place for a special season. This marks the first time that the official UCLA Men's Basketball Media Guide has been available to Bruins fans in off-campus discount and retail stores.
