Book Description

January 16, 2001
The 2001 Cruise Line Employment Manual is my 3rd Edition and by popular demand, I have expanded the International Section. The Cruise Line Industry and Concessionaires are constantly changing and the 3rd Edition has been thoroughly updated to these changes. A few of the Cruise Lines have merged, gone out of business, such as Premier Cruise Line and Cape Canaveral. American Classic Voyages, parent company of American Hawaii and Delta Queen have started a new subsidiary, United States Line. I have thoroughly checked the Concessionaire Section and these changes have been noted. The Manual has been highly acclaimed by the Cruise Line Industry, those who are new to the Industry and veteran cruise line employees. I want to thank everyone who has contributed information and their input for this new edition.

The manual is compiled from innumerable hours of research and my personal experience in the Purser and Entertainment Departments. It is intended for both the novice and experienced applicants. The manual covers resumes, cover letters, interview techniques, shipboard organization, job descriptions including qualifications and responsibilities, cruise line profiles, onboard rules and regulations, glossary of nautical terms, and websites. This information will guide you step-by-step and open the right doors.

3.0 out of 5 stars A little disappointing, June 6, 2001
By
Angy Schall (Nashville, TN United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 2001 Cruise Line Employment Manual (Paperback)
I was extremely excited to get this book, but when I opened it, I was a little disappointed. Most of the information contained in this book is easily found on the internet at such sites as jobmokey.com or hcareers.com. I was looking forward to the resume information, which was only 2 pages long and looked like all the information I had been given in college to write a resume. I was hoping it would give more information about marketing yourself, not the cruise lines. Also, beware that some of the contacts listed at the different cruise lines are incorrect. The job descriptions were good, but that was really the only thing that helped me.

5.0 out of 5 stars I got the job!, February 27, 2002
By
Duane (Seattle, WA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 2001 Cruise Line Employment Manual (Paperback)
I had done so much research to try and find a job on a cruise ship. If I ordered this manual first, it would have saved me so much time. It put me in direct contact with people to apply with and gave me so much more information than I hoped for. And yes, I was hired with a major cruise line starting next week. All thanks to this wonderful book!
