5.0 out of 5 stars Exceeds Original
Honestly this CD does exceed the original Chronic 2001 and even though I own both, if you were to choose one, I would go for the instrumental version. The reason is that when you listen to it without the raps added you catch on to elements of the production that you may have missed in the original track. 2.0 out of 5 stars Yeah Right! lets get real
The only reason this is getting a 2 because its DR. Dre where talking about. This is stupid I mean why make instrumental stuff for wanna be people that don't no how to rap and think they can flow good. and anyways the tracks don't even sound like the originals it sound like some Christina Aguilera stuff. But oh well I know you are not going to listen to me and you are...

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceeds Original, April 24, 2004
This review is from: 2001 (instrumental) (Audio CD)
Honestly this CD does exceed the original Chronic 2001 and even though I own both, if you were to choose one, I would go for the instrumental version. The reason is that when you listen to it without the raps added you catch on to elements of the production that you may have missed in the original track. You start to realize that it isn't simply just a rhythm to back the lyrics, like the a lot of hip-hop production, but a musical masterpiece like no other. You can even hear all the vocal samples and there's a lot more to every beat than a simple sample looped repeatedly. The sequencing of the instruments is phenomenal and in my opinion is the most afluently produced hip-hop album of the 90's. The CD can also serve as either something to listen to for pleasure or a freestyling tool.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best beats for you to enjoy or/and to rap to, October 16, 2001
This review is from: 2001 (instrumental) (Audio CD)
2001's beats are off the hook. Xplosive, Still Dre, Next Episode, The Watcher all have great beats. But, nothing tops the beat for Big Ego's. That beat is the tightest most modern gansta thang I have ever heard!

5.0 out of 5 stars Instrumentals that give music new life, May 13, 2007

Dr. Dre's 2001 is an incredible album of west coast gangsta rap, some of the finest of the last decade, and if you're reading this review then you probably know that by now. Having loved that album for a long time, I bought this instrumentals disc because I thought it would be useful sometime, and it was. But I started just listening to the album from time to time, and I began to appreciate the music on a whole other level. The dense instrumentation of "2001" and the sheer musicality is hard to appreciate otherwise. I started listening to the instrumentals album in the car and just on my own, and I really liked it a lot. I heard some loops and some pieces of the songs that I had never heard before, and Dre's creative song structuring is made apparent. He's not only a good producer, he's actually a very intelligent musician as well. This stuff is also great background music if you're making a video or project. It doesn't grow boring or too repetitive like a lot of instrumentals can. You wouldn't really listen to this instead of listening to the actual album, but this can make for some fun and interesting listens, and can come in handy for a lot of uses. One of the finest instrumental albums that's widely available, highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars real music, July 23, 2007
This review is from: 2001 (instrumental) (Audio CD)
This cd revitalized the hip-hop/rap world. Dre is one of, if not the, best producers out there. Just listen to the beats he makes. Not only does he make all his own beats, but he makes some for Eminem, 50 Cent, G-Unit, Mary J., Busta Rhymes, Warren G, and the list goes on and on. The lyrics to these songs are amazing, but when you listen to the beat alone, damn it just blows you away. You get a different feeling listenin to just the beat without the words. For all the people who are against rap and say its not real music. Buy this cd and just listen to it. There is no possible way for anyone who likes any kind of music to listen to this and say its crap. You have to listen to it to appreciate the many layers Dre puts into his beats. Ony fan of good music will love this instrumental cd. I highly recomend you buy this cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dr. Dre + beats = classic rap, October 27, 2004
This review is from: 2001 (instrumental) (Audio CD)
Dr. Dre is arguable the best producer in the biz right now. He's produced his own albums and other albums under the Shady/Aftermath label, like Eminem and 50 Cent. He's got the game on lock and hopefully he will continue to release classic albums. This is an awesome CD because I can rap to Dre beats and I can record over it and make my own song out of it; or sometimes I just like to listen to it and relax. He's got some tight beats with the whole electronic thing with piano stuff. If you like listening to just the beats, buy this and some other instrumentals. Cash Money instrumentals are also good.
