5.0 out of 5 stars This is the book if you're already getting above 30!, March 4, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: 2001 MCAT: Complete Preparation for the Medical College Admission Test (Paperback)
If you're already getting above 30 and want to improve, this is the book for you. I'm in a Princeton Review class, which got my diagnostic up from 29 to 34, so now I'm aiming for a 37. Just reviewing different sciences and doing practice passages isn't going to get me much higher on the bell curve; I think I need what this book offers, which is really *thinking* practice and coaching. It spends a lot of time addressing and drilling advanced critical reasoning, including logic, analysis, synthesis, reading skills, math skills, etc. The science reviews are very brief but more in-depth than other books I've looked at, including Kaplan and Princeton Review. Each science review section is followed with exercises and questions, which aren't exactly like MCAT questions; the book's questions are more focused on the topic at hand, and might involve more calculation. I like having these kinds of questions in addition to the piles of MCAT questions I get from the Princeton Review. In a nutshell, this is the most HIGH YIELD book I've seen if you're self-motivated and looking to improve from a great score to a truly exceptional one.

2.0 out of 5 stars Plenty of information, needs proofreading, March 26, 2001
By
Eric R Schmitt (Walla Walla, WA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 2001 MCAT: Complete Preparation for the Medical College Admission Test (Paperback)
This text contains over six hundred pages of review material, plus a full length practice test. The review material is extensive, covering all the areas of the MCAT, and is great for indentifying areas of weakness - but should not be thought of as a primary source if you're looking to learn a topic(s) for the first time, because the material is not presented in great detail or with suitable discussion. This book also suffers from an amazing lack of proofreading/editing. Typos are prevalent and can be found not only in the discussions, but also in the practice questions and answers (e.g., the final question of the practice test asks to predict the phenotypes resulting from a cross between two individuals shown on a pedigree chart but both individuals are male). Overall, this book isn't worth what I paid for it.

3.0 out of 5 stars For Ryan UCLA, August 3, 2005
This review is from: 2001 MCAT: Complete Preparation for the Medical College Admission Test (Paperback)
Yes Ryan,
Cation flows toward the cathode (making this electrode positive, that's why they call it cathode), and anions flow toward anode.
Review your chem, bud!
