PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU BUY,

This review is from: 2002 FIFA World Cup (Video Game)
I own FIFA 2002 and bought this game thinking it would be alot better then it. It wasn't. What i really liked about FIFA 2002 was the variety of teams-there were hundreds of them-all the national teams and all the leagues you could think of. You could create your own team, your own player, r even your own tournament. All of this is lost in FIFA WORLD CUP 2002. You can only play as a national team. You either had to play a friendly or the World Cup. This game got boring fast. The music was nothing compared to FIFA 2002-there was only one song and it was boring. The sunset lighting was annoying also. There were a few good points to the game. The extras for one. There was a movie about football(soccer) all around the world. It was pretty good. The gameplay was fantastic, yet the same as FIFA 2002(except for the juggling thing). All in al this game was not nearly as good as expected-I sold mine. If you love soccer, or even if you dont, buy FIFA 2002 instead of FIFA WORLD CUP 2002. If you already own FIFA 2002, do not purchase this game. It is a waste of money and time. Thank you.

Better than the X-Box and PS2 versions!!,

This is purely an excellent game. I love the graphical touches and detail, which makes this game stand out in an overly crowded field of soccer games. 2002 Fifa World Cup is better than the original. There is better computer A.I., and there is finally a world cup mode. The passing uses the effcient system from Fifa Soccer 2002, so vetrans of the series will be able to pick this right up. There is also a rookie mode, which will help new players enjoy this game also. This is also better than the X-Box or PS2 edition because the controls are much easier to use. Even if you own the previous editions, or this on another console, you should still pick this up. There has yet to be a better soccer game released on any console.

I've gone through generations of soccer video games, albeit I haven't played ALL of them, but this just has to be the best of the pack. Best of all is the intuitive play control mechanisms, ie. shooting, passing and ball-handling. I really do have a sense of controlling what goes on in the field, and none-the-less paying for my stupid mistakes as well. The AI also is very intelligent and really does correspond to its difficulty levels. Newbies can pick up the controller and play begginner and have just as much fun as the more seasoned player in the professional setting. How does the game look and sound? Extraordinary! The player animations are superb as are all the minute details throughout. The music, crowd chants, camera work, stadium details all just add up to create such a realistic pageantry that is the World Cup! I've never attended the actual event, but this just might be the next best thing to watching it live on the tele.

Great Game,

Finding soccer games for gamecube at stores is hard. I was originally looking for FIFA 2003 or 04 but could never find it. I stumbled upon this game at a store and saw soccer on it and I purchased it.It was great. I cant compare it to anyother soccer games cuz ive never played any others, but this was really fun. I love how its challenging and is so fast paced. The controls are simple and the graphics are pretty good. There is one thing thats a bummer. I know that FIFA has all the teams: national teams, club teams, and league teams. 2002 FIFA world cup has only national teams. There are about 40 contries, all seeking to win the World Cup. This game is made by EA Sports and it carries all of their quality. This game is awesome. It is a great alternative to FIFA. It may be better.

Great Game For a Great Console!,

I love this game! The gameplay is simple although it does take about a half hour to get used to the (great) controls. The graphics are A-W-E-S-O-M-E! The character detail is AMAZING. I could actually tell who the player was just by looking at him! I couldnt do that in any other soccer game before. Also the character animation is very realistic. This game is also fun for multiplayer purposes. I had a great time playing this game with my friends. There are some new teams to unlock but not enough to satisfy my needs for unlockables. Oh yeah by the way: GO GERMANY!!! I hope that helped.

.... The graphics and gameplay are all good. The commentating makes the game more interesting. EA Sports is the best video game company in my opinion. Some games are not worth $50 but this one is.

Having played FIFA 2002 for the GameCube, I easily picked up the controls for this game. The controls are similar, as are the graphics etc. I've been playing multiplayer soccer games with the same 4 guys for the last since [other soccer games]. The biggest gameplay "moves" I miss are the ability to "take a dive" or "fake a foul" and the ability to agressively tackle someone away from the ball. As both a player and a referee - I know this happens, and it was great to be able to do this in WC 98. However - the ability to curve passes, shots, and lobs, along with the powerup on the same, more than makes up for this... and then add in all the juggling moves, and give & go passes (which [are bad] if you're on the recieving end in multiplayer). However - all you can do is play a friendly match, or play the exact World Cup schedule. The previous WC game at least allowed you to randomize matches, for some variety - I mean, a "group of death" is fun sometimes. You can't change players names, appearances, or abilities, so having Pablo Maestroni on the U.S. roster is impossible, although he'll probably play in a World Cup game. The ability to adjust player stat's and information had so many more options in WC 98. Yeah - the graphics are better. Yeah the gameplay outrageous - with computerized players making runs up the sidelines, etc... but I'd still like a few options to change things around. I could setup a custom cup with FIFA 2002 and save myself about [$]. At least I can get a few bucks back on a trade-in...
