FIFA World Cup Moments bring the drama of the Cup to life with replays, special animations, and an all-new music score. Tournament mode lets you play the entire FIFA World Cup, from the group rounds to the title game. New stadium environments include team colors, flags, chants, and pyrotechnics.

Product Description

Hot on the heels of FIFA Soccer 2002, Electronic Arts has readied a World Cup-themed alternate version of the game. As the name suggests, the game focuses squarely on the World Cup tournament which takes place in Japan and Korea (May 31 to June 30 2002). Though FIFA 2002 featured a Road to the World Cup mode, players who wanted to take their favorite national team to victory were out of luck: qualification was as far as you could go. 2002 FIFA World Cup picks up where the old game left off and brings the excitement of the tournament home like no other game.

Features official FIFA World Cup insignia, mascots and the 20 new World Cup stadiums in Japan and Korea; Includes all the World Cup star players' looks and playing styles; New gameplay delivers intuitive one-button headers, volleys, scissor kicks, juggling, and more; New stadium environments and player-to-player animations; New camera angles and replays; key dramatic moments highlighted; Tournament Mode--seven-game series beginning with round-robin play, followed by playoffs leading to the final match.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Game, past problems, April 28, 2002

This review is from: 2002 FIFA World Cup (CD-ROM)
FIFA 2002 was a major improvement from the lackluster package which EA came out with on 2001. To be very frank I was very dissapointed with the 2001 product and to a large extent with anything coming out after 1999, simply because the epic, and fun of before was not there. Thankfully for us all EA has decided to release a great problem solver such as World Cup 2002. Although it tags along with the EA mentally of "great graphics, poor game" it really does much towards improving the level of both excitement and realism on the pitch. By bringing all 20 World Cup Statdiums to life and taking drama to the next level the game gets away from the poor taste after a FIFA 2002 Cup victory or for that sake anything after 99. The game continues to improve on the passing models and with new player reactions to rival challenge things come to life in a whole different way.

Some of the bad things still persist. If you play long enough you will find there are bugs that will let you score EVERY time. Also sometimes good teams become really bad teams in seconds and bad teams good. This inconsistency on the part of the AI makes it hard to get a real sense of being there as far as football is concerned. Other minor problems persist with the running and goalkeeping.

Overall, if you, like me can't wait for the World Cup to start and are a die hard soccer fan, you will definetly enjoy this new EA product

I was a little surprised to such low reviews, because the graphics of this game are amazing-absolutely amazing. I found the actual game play to be really good too. Besides the amazingly accurate lobs and passes, it's a very accurate portrayal of real soccer. Plus the environment of the world cup fever is great with the animated crowd.

1.0 out of 5 stars All show and No GO!!, May 22, 2002

I'll make this review short and to the point. Fifa RTWC 98 was an awesome game with, by today's standards, poor graphics. 2002 World Cup is a game of stunning graphics, with very little depth. Basically, it is the dizzy blond of football games. Where are the options? It only gives you the World Cup, there is no option to play the qualifiers, and absolutely no international selection. (All options that were included in Fifa RTWC 98). This game serves well as a two person player, but any ong term satisfaction is really absent, do yourself a favour, put your wallet away.
