5.0 out of 5 stars This will go down in college sports history as one of the best!, June 26, 2005

Diehard fan! (Powell, Ohio United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The 2003 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl National Championship (DVD)
From start to finish, no matter what side of the stadium you sat on, this was by far one of the best showdowns in college football history and certainly ranks in the top 10 for keeping you on the edge of your seat. This was sports entertainment at its best!!! It was especially nerve wracking, keeping you on the edge of your seat right through 2 overtimes to see which team would actually win. Oh sure, someone will say Miami should have won (probably a Hurricane fan), but in all reality it was "heart" that won this one, the "heart" of the Ohio State "Buckeyes".

3.0 out of 5 stars Proof of the flagrant call, July 27, 2008
This review is from: The 2003 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl National Championship (DVD)

Quality is fine along the lines of others in the same ABC series. decent quality audio, could have better navigation, the chapters are spread out a bit, but good overall, as might expect from a major network.

AS for the game, its nice to have proof of the most flagrant miscall in college sports history. So evident was "pass interference" call no such thing, that one can now replay Dan Fouts over and over again saying "Bad Call" you can see it from different angles, not mention count the VERY long seconds duration between the fabricated foul and the flag hitting the ground. And i am not necessarily a Hurricane fan, but that felt like scam if i had ever seen one. This DVD allows the conspiracy theorists to have a field day due to the rewind and slow play functions, along with the commentary which challenged the call.

I won't speculate why this occured, but losing two NC's in two very non-competitive title games has brought into question the quality of both the once traditional conferences and more importantly, the schism dividing the southern collegiate athlete versus the northern. but all one need do is look at the track record since of the Ohio State Buckeyes versus southern teams outside their once, traditionally strong conference. LSU and Florida anyone???

3.0 out of 5 stars The Crime of the Century, June 23, 2005
This review is from: The 2003 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl National Championship (DVD)
For those who don't remember this is the game in which the national championship was stolen for the Miami Hurricanes by the refs and given to the undeserving Ohio State Buckeyes (of Maurice Clarett fame).

The DVD captures the action of game quite well. Unfortunately the DVD gives only lip service to phantom pass interference call on Miami cornerback Glenn Sharpe on 4th down that gift-rapped the win for the Buckeyes.

If there was ever an arguement for killing the refs this is it! Read the book Cane Mutiny, it's got the name of the referee who waited a eternity before throwing the flag that decided the game because he "..had to replay the play in my mind."
