3.0 out of 5 stars Madame President is wearing what??
Yes, we've thankfully gotten beyond the tight business suit which the 2000 version had (thus now enabling President Barbie to decisively move around her Oval Office) but it does not look like a 21st century women's powersuit either. Rather, it looks like something that might be worn on a 'vacation' (including the inevitable staged appearance).

Well enough with that I think president barbie is pretty but should wear something else more proffesional looking but if you like the way she is than buy her.Unlike some people! Also mattel should make a terasa president doll just as an opinion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Barbie is ready to take over the world!, September 5, 2004

I actually own the African American version of this doll, but there is not place to make a comment on her as of yet, so I will go ahead and make my comment here.

This doll is really pretty (African American Version) she stands proud and eager to talk to America. This doll's outfit is really nice (About time she has on pants!) and the bag and eye glasses are really classy. The box is really well put together as there is a Stand with 3 microphones for her to make her speech.

Great for the Collector and great for the little girl interested in politics.

i don't know how old you are or what country you're from, but you're offensive. i'm sorry your parents instilled in you that a woman could never be president. i hope that with age you gain wisdom enough to know that a woman could be just as good a president as a man.

The doll was as advertised and it arrived quickly.
It is a Barbie doll- I don't think any of them are exactly 'durable."

3.0 out of 5 stars Madame President is wearing what??, October 28, 2004

Yes, we've thankfully gotten beyond the tight business suit which the 2000 version had (thus now enabling President Barbie to decisively move around her Oval Office) but it does not look like a 21st century women's powersuit either. Rather, it looks like something that might be worn on a 'vacation' (including the inevitable staged appearance).

Since President Barbie is also presumably encouraging girls to think about both photo ops AND policymaking, she should have been given a powersuit wardrobe. This will enable her to be taken seriously when she faces the Barbieworld Congress to advocate on behalf of girl rights.

In a world where grown women now have a wide variety of attractive business clothes to choose from (yes, including some oulfits with pants!), it seems weird that a toy publically intending to help kids think about their futures is fixated on past stereotypes of what is 'dressy' and what is 'casual'. Pants do not automatically mean casual lounging anymore.

Since Barbie also has pantsuits, surely the design team could have done better with this product. I like the other materials she comes with, but think that President Barbie is due for some serious wardrobe consulting.

I also have the AA version of this doll and she is great; I named her Condoleeza. The box explains to little girls why it is important to vote; she is a great role model. I love her outfit; it is very patriotic. Since I collect Barbies, she will be taken out of the box. I look forward to 2008 Barbie for President or even the Condoleeza "Barbie."
