Book Description

9 and upA Series of Unfortunate Events

Do you sometimes forget what year it is? Do you ever find yourself disoriented, consumed with a feeling of doubt, dread, or hysteria?

Lemony Snicket's Calendar of Unfortunate Events will help you navigate thirteen months -- January 2004 through January 2005 -- with relative confidence. Featuring full-color art by Brett Helquist, startling photographs from our Snicket Archives, depressing daily notations from Lemony Snicket, querulous quotes, rude reminders, and an extra day in February -- absolutely free -- this calendar may be the most excruciating way to remember that your days are numbered.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

Anyone familiar with Lemony Snicket's horribly bleak, utterly appalling Series of Unfortunate Events will not be surprised that the 2004 edition of Lemony Snicket's Calendar of Unfortunate Events represents 13 months and not the usual 12. Each calendar month serves up some sort of Snicket-alia, whether it's an unpleasant (yet artfully composed) illustration of the three beleaguered Baudelaire orphans by Brett Helquist or a mysterious black-and-white photo of Snicket kneeling before Beatrice's grave. The days of the month are sometimes marked with special moments in history such as August 5, "Birthday of John Merrick, also known as 'Elephant Man,'" or January 21, "King Louis XVI of France executed via guillotine, a French term for losing one's head." Other days simply offer friendly warnings, such as "Catching snowflakes in one's mouth can lead to a cold tongue" or "An evening sail on a full moon, beneath an ocean or large lake, can be deadly." Snicket fans will revel in delicious oddity of this wall calendar whose snippet of advice for December 25 is "Beware of burglars entering the chimney." --Karin Snelson

About the Author

Lemony Snicket grew up near the sea and currently lives beneath it. To his horror and dismay, he has no wife or children, only enemies, associates, and the occasional loyal manservant. His trial has been delayed, so he is free to continue researching and recording the tragic tales of the Baudelaire orphans for HarperCollins.

5.0 out of 5 stars If You Love ASoUE, You Need This!, August 30, 2004
I bought the 2004 version of this calendar, and not only were there interesting new pictures of our favorite orphans, there was also lots of clues to the story cleverly hidden throughout the different months. Unless you have no sense of humor whatsoever, the calendar also has some witty remarks regarding holidays & the like. But, the bottom line is this--you want some new clues about the V.F.D? About Beatrice? About ASoUE? Then get this calendar!

5.0 out of 5 stars interestingly funny, August 7, 2004
i love the series more than any other books i've read. i have the 2004 calendar and there is a new phrase or piece of information listed every few days. i have been using it now for 8 months and every day i read it just to get a laugh before going out the door. Lemony Snicket is an incredible person and writer and everything he does reflects that. this calender should be no exception.

I'm a big Lemony fan and i couldn't find this calendar anywhere! So, I just ordered it here. I saw the cover, and it's so beautiful. I thought for sure the awesome Mr. Helquist was gonna have more of these awesome new drawings inside. But no, the insinde is kinda bland, but the things that each day says ae halarious and are sure to make you laugh. Just read one veryday. It's makes it fun erie if you haven't read it, so just read them day by day. It'll cheer you up! So I sujest this to any Lemony fan. Every fan needs one! And hurry! They're hard to find!
