5.0 out of 5 stars A Pagan Almanac for our Global Village
Pagans from every village across the globe are beautifully represented in this most unusual almanac. I bought a copy well before the new year but that didn't stop full engagement with the numerous spells, bits of information and cross-cultural rituals contained within Llewellyn's Spell-a-Day Almanac. I found that I gained a wider appreciation for traditions that I had...

1.0 out of 5 stars A joke
This is a joke. I have read a lot of books, but this has to be the worst I have EVER read. Ever. It makes Silver Ravenwolf look like Ronald Hutton. Seriously. It's THAT terrible. This book is an insult to all pagans everywhere. It should be called, "Christian Self-Help on a Broom". I just can't express my disgust and contempt for this book. It's so bad, I'm...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Pagan Almanac for our Global Village, January 3, 2004
This review is from: 2004 Witches' Spell-A-Day Almanac (Annuals - Witches' Spell-a-Day Almanac) (Paperback)
Pagans from every village across the globe are beautifully represented in this most unusual almanac. I bought a copy well before the new year but that didn't stop full engagement with the numerous spells, bits of information and cross-cultural rituals contained within Llewellyn's Spell-a-Day Almanac. I found that I gained a wider appreciation for traditions that I had never even thought of as having anything in common with my own. This almanac expanded personal horizons, for the better. I appreciate a book that makes obvious, though not forced, efforts to be inclusive and well-rounded. Two thumbs up, for a well done, much needed, international approach to spells drawn from diverse paths, rather than the traditional ones that are entirely grounded by Eurocentricity.

5.0 out of 5 stars It is so useful I bought the 2005 almanac already, October 7, 2004
This review is from: 2004 Witches' Spell-A-Day Almanac (Annuals - Witches' Spell-a-Day Almanac) (Paperback)
This year I started reading new age and pagan books of all kinds.
I was looking for things like candle spells and simple magic.
It was a surprize for me to find out that there is a Witches' Spell A Day Alamac.

I find it very useful because it gives you the lunar phases, colors and incence for each day. It gives you a spell or inspiration for everyday but it doesnt mean that you have to perform each spell.

It is true that it gives an outlook to spells and holidays from different religions, but I dont consider it a christian or catholic book of spells.

It is fun to read. After I got it, I bought one for my best friend and as soon as the 2005 was for sale, I got it too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't take it too seriously, July 9, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: 2004 Witches' Spell-A-Day Almanac (Annuals - Witches' Spell-a-Day Almanac) (Paperback)
I think some people take books like this a little too seriously - it's meant to be fun, and informative if you approach it with an open mind. I don't think it rips off anything - I think the authors are trying to reach a wide variety of readers. I am Wiccan, and I'm not offended at all by this book. Flip through it, you never know what kind of little gem you might find. You just might become inspired or try some new ideas for self-improvement or awareness.

1.0 out of 5 stars A joke, November 13, 2003

This review is from: 2004 Witches' Spell-A-Day Almanac (Annuals - Witches' Spell-a-Day Almanac) (Paperback)
It's so bad, I'm almost speechless.

Included are rituals for Ramadan, prayers to St. Francis and numerous other Christian saints. I don't think there isn't a cultural or religious tradition that hasn't been ripped off for use in this book. This is not only disrespectful to pagans, but the religions who this book is ripping off who practice their own cultural traditions, not to mention the gods and spirits of said traditions.
