Unlike many product reviews that I read before I purchased ACT, this one is written by somebody who has no experience with previous versions or other contact management applications. Therefore, I approached the choice somewhat ignorantly and fearfully, but my fears were unfounded. The program is as advertised, that's the key thing. In my still limited experience, it has never crashed or failed to work properly. It is very easy to learn and use. In our fair city (Atlanta) it is well supported with certified technicians. And it's fun. I recall reading that veteran users have experienced problems with conversions of databases. Starting from scratch, we have not had to do that, so I can't confirm or deny it's a problem. But importing contacts from spreadsheets has been flawless.

Act! 2006 does what I ask of it. I have not investigated a lot of the "bells and whistles" at this time. One reason I chose this product over others is that it did what I needed without being overly complex.

Okay,

I've been using Act 2006 since July when I was so desperate in finding something to manage my contacts better. I read so much negative feedback that I felt like I was risking not only my money but my laptop. However, my only choices were to stay unorganized or spend alot of money that I didn't have. However, to my surprise, it was the best investment I could have made. It's done everything that I wanted and isn't much different from the ACT 2007 version.

Great software. I have used it off and on over the years as it has changed hands and it still has the same great shortcuts and functionality. When I was considering the purchase there were quite a few reviews claiming it was not working. They were wrong. It works well with my outlook. Enjoy.

I had read and heard that ACT had terrible customer service. But I did not believe it could be as bad as it was. I had an installation problem. I placed several calls, was on hold for 20-30 minutes at a time, was passed around to several different people, and was told I would get a return call within the day which I never got. Often, after waiting on hold - once for 40 minutes - the call was dropped and I had to call back in, go through the menu BS and wait on hold again, only to be dropped again. It took me 2 days and a total of 7 hours on the phone to get a simple problem resolved. I never want to deal with these people again.
