So-so,
By R. Taylor (Seattle, WA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 2006 Mom's Plan-It Engagement Calendar (Calendar)
This planner has a lot going for it - nice matte paper so ink doesn't smear (like it does in the Mary Englebreit planners), nice space allotment for lists and extra notes, an inside pocket, etc. Still, it's only a so-so in my book because 1) the spiral bound thing doesn't last as long as the planner is supposed to last (I've had mine 11 months and it's totally coming apart - the planner is meant to be used for 16 months). 2) The 16-month format is a scam. The planner works for August through the following December, which means if you use these year after year, you are paying for four months you will not use. I have to get a new one now, and will just have to flip past August-December and start with January. It's a waste of paper and a waste of money in my opinion. As for the school-year convenience claim, it makes no sense to me. I have just as much to schedule in the summer as I do any other time of year. Make the calendar August to August or December to December, but don't try to do both. I will buy another one of these because there's enough about it that I like, but I would love it if they improved the binding and stuck to a traditional 12-month calendar.

I bought this calendar in August just before my daughter went back to school. The calendar has some nice features - the August start (great for those of us with children in school) and the colorful stickers.
Unfortunately, it also has a lot of shortcomings. The book could use a two-page grid calendar for each month, so moms can see everything going on in a month at one glance. It could also use some blank lined pages for notes. There is a block for each day, but that only provides enough room to write down appointments, activities, etc. There is no where to jot down notes or reminders. Another shortcoming is that while there is a pocket inside the front cover to store receipts, slips of paper, etc, it doesn't accomodate larger pieces of paper. Overall, the book is nice for the price, but for someone who needs a lot of writing room, and/or has a lot to keep track of, they would be better off spending the extra money on a Franklin Covey planner system.

Love it! Wouldn't know what to do without it! I have four children 17, 11, 2 and 3 and they keep me very busy and this planner is a godsend! I'm already looking for the 2007 edition.
