5.0 out of 5 stars awesome statistics - must read for stat junkies like me
a must read for every NFL fan. I've been getting the updated version of this book every year since 1998 and the NFL does a wonderful job every time. Everything you could ever want to know about the past season and NFL history is right here in this wonderful book. I can't wait to get my hands on the 2007 issue...

3.0 out of 5 stars Tons of Stats
If you're into archiving NFL stats, buy this book. There is a ton of information and facts for '06 as advertised, and it's a good gift for your local NFL nut.

4.0 out of 5 stars 2006 NFL Record and Fact Book - Now smaller!, November 9, 2006
By
This review is from: 2006 NFL Record & Fact Book (Paperback)
I last bought an NFLR&F book in 1994, and it was great. So with the Seahawks doing so well last year I did it again, and was disapointed with the half-size thing I got this time: A5 in size, not A4! (Plus amazon didn't have the care enough to not fold the corner of the cover, or bang the base of the book's spine in shipping it)
The book itself is a treat, except for the puzzling inclusion of a fantasy-football section in what is supposed to be just the RECORDS and FACTS of the game (why not then include all the spreads and betting odds from last year?).
Team pages start on the right-hand page this time, meaning you have two different team's information when you open a page - annoying, unlike the 94 version. But all the other good stuff is still there, like 2005 season in review (records), all-time stats(records), and a digest of the rules(facts).
1) Make it back to the original A4 size. 2) Get rid of that fantasy rubbish. 3) put a little more care into the layout - 4 pages per team, so start on the left hand side!
4 stars, but it's only that high because it's a bloody good reference book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must-Have For Every NFL Fan, November 3, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: 2006 NFL Record & Fact Book (Paperback)
Fact-packed compendium of every possible bit of arcane football information any NFL can spend weeks consuming, the 2006 NFL Record & Fact Book will win bar bets, settle family arguments and even shut up your know-it-all brother-in-law. What it won't do is help you pick winners. But wanna know how many years Bill Belicheck's been coaching, or who the Cardinals all-time record-holding ground gainer is, or the name of San Diago's wide receivers coach, and this book will give you the answers. Where else are you going to find the results of last year's pre-season games, or how next year's schedule is going to be decided, or what time this year's Super Bowl starts and which conference winner will wear its home uniforms? If your buddy needs to know what round Adrian Peterson of the Bears was taken, this book has the answer. If you've got the questions, this book has the answers in easy-to-find, compartmentalized sections that are a snap to understand.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Look Forward To This Book Every Year!, September 8, 2006

This review is from: 2006 NFL Record & Fact Book (Paperback)
Here it is! All you would ever need to know about the world's greatest game. It is filled to the brim with little known facts and statistics that add to the experience of Pro Football.

If you are a fan, you will find yourself starting to read this and then wonder where the time went. You just get lost in memories of the great games, players, and coaches. Another great thing is that this book comes out every year (usually in late August) so it is very up to date with coaching/player changes, etc.

There are a lot of Pro Football books and magazines out there, but I would have to say this is the best of the bunch.

I never purchased a sports statistic book before, so maybe that's why I am so disappointed. I thought the book would have team roster histories and year-by-year summaries, but it mostly summarized the 2005 season. The book has plenty of 2006 info, including team front office management, roster, schedules, draft info, and coaching staff bios. The historical data includes extensive team info, but only the significant individual records/stats. Boiled down, nothing more than the 2005 USA Today NFL sports pages in one book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another year, another great effort, August 29, 2006
This review is from: 2006 NFL Record & Fact Book (Paperback)
I know it's cliched to say, but if you're only going to purchase one book for the upcoming season, this is it. Of the leagues who publish preview, the NFL, as in so many other areas, sets the standard.

Besides a very week-by-week review of 2005 and the requisite team sections, there are things you just can't find anywhere else - the tops in many stat categories over the past 2,3 or 4 seasons, the stats of several great current players versus each team, a good historical section, and numerous others.

There are other great publications out there, notably Pro Football Prospectus, but they're different from this. The NFL fact book is one that should remain on your coffee table to reference every Sunday.
