Very dissatisfied with this product, October 31, 2009
This review is from: 2008 PMP Exam Test Prep Guide, PMBOK 3rd Edition (Perfect Paperback)
I was hoping that for $60 I would get a good software that would simulate the PMP exam. I was excited to get 2000 questions to prepare for the exam.
Several of the same questions are repeated within the exam (I had at least 20 questions repeated multiple times in 1 exam). I also had at least 4-5 questions asking to calculate the PV and provided different numbers, again same questions over and over.
I have not seen 1 question around Network diagram or calculating ES, EF, float.critical path...etc.
If you want to truly simulate the PMP examp I would not recommend this software.
Oh, and BTW the "software" is an access database with some visual basic coding.

So Much ... but So Little, November 16, 2009
This review is from: 2008 PMP Exam Test Prep Guide, PMBOK 3rd Edition (Perfect Paperback)
You get 6,000 "PMP exam" questions, but they are very poor quality.
Having just passed the PMP exam last week, and seeing real questions, I must say that this CD is a poor study tool. I also tried Rita's book (bloated, probably more suited to the classroom, but it is not sufficient as an independent PMP exam study-aid), and the excellent "Achieve PMP .. by Chu, Altweis, Preston".
Many of the questions in this CD-only Exam Simulation were simply incorrect, such as asking for the critical path of a pop-up diagram, when EV, PV, & CPI numbers are displayed! Also found many questions were repeated, and often the same 5th answer was offered, but never correct (PMP only has 4 answers). Some questions were outrageously difficult and MBA/PhD obscure (I gave up trying to find useful questions after exam #7 of 10).
As others have mentioned, the authors should be ashamed - the poor quality of the questions, and the lack of focus on needs for the PMP exam are all serious deficiencies. These "PMP" authors have offended the PMI community with this lousy, unprofessional product that goes against so many PMI principles.
I give the product 2 ** instead of 1 * because although the question were flawed, the explanations were of value; I cross-checked against the PMBOK and other sources, which helped me develop my own thoughts and not just learn things by rote.
P.S. The vendor also sent me a used, scuffed CD that took many tries to install - I should have returned it immediately!

Utterly useless, November 14, 2009
This review is from: 2008 PMP Exam Test Prep Guide, PMBOK 3rd Edition (Perfect Paperback)
This product is utterly useless and the 'PMP's who put it together should be embarrassed that their names are on it.
Very few questions actually follow the PMP Exam model of situational questions. Possibly this was intended for the CAPM. Most are direct questions such as "which of the following refers to this process", or "Which of the following is NOT involved in this process". But, even worse, some questions come through garbled and unreadable, sometimes with the answer choices mixed in with the questions. In the evaluation and answer section it presents "Questions Incorrectly Answered", but correct answers are mixed in with incorrect answers. There were times that it described the answer I gave as correct, but it told me that I had chosen the incorrect answer.
This product was put together in a shabby manner, clearly with no quality control, and very little attention to the actual feel of the PMP exam.
I am embarrassed that I actually purchased this and feel that my purchase of this product was a COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY, and my time spent working with it was a COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME.
