SCF is a very useful reference book. One thing really going for is the great pix of thousands of different weapons (not all photo's are correct though). However the values are outdated and have not been changed for at least 2 years and I think even more. The industry standard is The Blue Book of Gun Values by S.P. Fjestad; but Blue Book does not have photo's. If you are interested in firearms I recommend that you get Standard Catalog of Firearms once every 5 years and Fjestad's Blue Book every year. The 2 work well together.

I have the 2000 and 2002 editions of this guide and was very impressed, but the the 2008 is a disappointment. The picture quality is very poor and the newspaper type paper and print are very displeasing.

I am not sure whether or not I not being a dealer should write this review but for what I wanted it was great. I have quite a few weapons and was interested in the values. The book is well done, easy to use and the pictures are also very good and a help. I have checked some of the prices via the net and found the pricing was right on.

a must for the gun collector...shows some 98 percent of all made..I buy every year to keep up with prices and what is new.

My husband keeps this book beside him in his recliner for quick reference whne one of his gun trading buddies calls for information. It really is a good investment for someone that loves guns as much as my husband- a great gift idea.

This book presents a great overview of firearms both modern and antique. I've found it to be a great way to quickly locate information on a surprising array of weapons. While usually unable to give a lot of in-depth information on individual arms, it does give a quick overview with very pertinent details included. I've been very impressed by how many firearms, especially antique and reproduction 19th century muskets, are included. Great value for the price!

About every 2 year i get a new one of these books. i am and avid gun collector and this helps to find the value of the fire arms for buying or selling. it is one of the best books out.

I use this catalogue, a new one every year, as a way to stay up to date when I need to determine price and value of firearms in my every day business. It is an indespensable, tool that is quick and easy to use and understand. The discriptions and pictures of the items described are crisp and clear and very accurate.

This is an invaluable reference for the collector, buyer or seller of firearms (exluding military firearms). It goes into great detail describing models, engraving patterns for many firearms.

THE BOOK THAT I HAD PURCHASED WAS OUTSTANDING WITH A LOT OF INFORMATION. IT ALSO GIVES A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE GUNS AND RIFLES, WHICH WAS VERY HELPFUL. I HAD HEARD ABOUT THIS BOOK FROM A FRIEND OF MINE AND WAS SURPRISED ABOUT ALL THE OUTSTANDING INFORMATION, PICTURES THAT THIS BOOK CONTAINED. THE AUTHOR DID A GREAT JOB OF PUTTING THIS BOOK TOGETHER. I WILL PURCHASE THE NEXT VOLUME WHEN IT COMES OUT.
