I like to buy the "Grammy" collections because it introduces me to music I would not hear any other way. I listen to the radio maybe 2 hours a day at the most and there's not a lot of new stuff played in that short time period.
I liked some of the music, but I have to admit the Jonas Brothers cut left me cold. And the Eagles? The harmony is still great, but quit singing about lost love like a 1960s teenage boy. I'm sure both of these remarks show my age and taste in music, but hey, it's who I am. Take a peek at the track listings and see if you're interested in the cd. If you don't care for the artists, you probably won't like the cd. But if you're like me and like to stretch your musical horizons, check it out.

not the best of 2008,

2009 grammy's... worst collection of grammy nominee songs! I have the grammy nominee cds dating back to 1995.... and this stands out to be the worst collection voted by the general public. Not a good CD.

Here's another volume of the annual Grammy Nominees series. As always, this collection provides a good overview of what last year had to offer. It's a good mix of rock, pop, R&B, hip-hop and country. The tracklisting consists of artists from the General and Pop fields. there are some familiar artists here as well as many new ones. The only major nominee missing here is Jason Mraz. The most intriguing track here is "Please Read The Letter" by the unlikely pairing of Robert Plant and Alison Krauss. Here, Plant's vocals are a far cry from his Led Zeppelin days. Another interesting track is "Paper Planes" by M.I.A. which features the sound of a gun firing during the chorus and samples The Clash's "Straight To Hell". There's also a song from the Eagles at the end which runs nearly eight minutes. And finally, the version of OneRepublic's "Apologize" appearing here does not feature Timbaland.
Whether or not you're a fan of the Grammy's this 79 minute disc is a good way to keep up with today's music. It's definitely a good way to discover new artists which this disc has plenty of.

The music was great. The more I played it...the more I liked it. All different types of music. Really enjoyable.

Being more of a classic rock person, the Grammy Nominee series enables me to have more current music in my library. Current 2009 release did not disappoint; even my daughters listen.

Shows the downfall of popular music,

This "album" as well as the telecast of the Grammys shows us where we are in popular music today. Great songwriters (Krauss, Plant, and Henley) dot this album and are too few and far between. The other drivel on this album is too bland with lyrics that don't have any feel. After listening to this, I feel like I just got out of the dentist chair.

Where else will you get the MP3 version of Eagles' "Waiting In The Weeds" (legally, that is)?

I liked most of the tracks on this Grammy disc. "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay and Katy Perry's provocative hit "I Kissed A Girl" are two highlights here. They are very upbeat songs. "So What" by Pink is another favorite of mine on here. I love the beat of Maroon 5's "I Won't Go Home Without You". Duffy's "Mercy" is a fun song to listen and dance to. I also like the track "Paper Planes" by MIA. I also like the country song "Love Don't Live Here". "Need You Bad" by Jasmine Sullivan is very soulful. I like the track "American Boy" by Estelle and Kanye West. It is very light and groovy. The unlikely pairing of Robert Plant and Alison Krauss works on the duet "Please Read The Letter" I like Alison's fiddle playing on this track The weakest tracks on this disc are Lil Wayne's "Got Money" and the Jonas Brothers "Burning Love". I know that both artists have legions of fans, but these songs just didn't connect with me. I also didn't care for "Going On" by Gnarls Barkley. Adele has a good voice, but "Chasing Pavements" is a boring song to me. The disc has some gems, but it also has some weak songs.

You will not be disappointed by this collection. Not only does it include top artists but the placement of tracks is just as it should be in mixing genres like this. Highly recommend!
