mandatory work related comparison between old and new codes, since i will have to follow the new 2009 IBC for the next three years! I'm a structural engineer.

great book, just the one needed to get started if you looking to move forward in your career. For the general public it will take understanding of building but for those in the trade a must have to keep on top of changes in building. A bit vague in areas but you catch on the more you study it.

The CD works as advertised. We find it helpful as we have earlier versions. A less aggressively protected pdf would be easier to quote from, but the cut and paste functions work fine. Search is, as always, extremely helpful.

I purchased this book to look at the history of a project for a customer. History is important.
The customer's home had significant structural damage due to some high-end windows that were not installed correctly.
The problem was headed to court and most likely would have taken 2-3 years to settle.
We used this info to prove to the contractor's insurance carrier that the installation had been at-fault.
After seeing the irrefutable Codes that were in effect at the time of installation and comparing them to the photos we took, the fault was obvious.

So a simple thing like ordering this book on Amazon saved our customer many thousands of dollars and years in court.
It also proves our credibility to customers, being able to show them in black & white what the history of Building Codes has been.

Every contractor who does remodeling should have a set of the old Code Books on his shelf for reference.

This is required for certification in 2010 (unless you can schedule a 2006 paper and pencil test). Bought this through Amazon and pricing was similar to ICC though delivery options much better.

This is a reasonably priced building code in a nicely bound book. I HAVE to have a code for work and the Amazon price was the most exciting part.
Not your relaxing read but informative.

Great to have this on CD / PDF. Makes it easy to print the pages you want without the pages you don't need.
Would be 5 stars but the index only breaks things down by chapter instead of earlier code releases that have it broken down by chapter and subsections.
Maybe the index will be improved with the next printing of the 2009 code.

It really is like having the entire book on your computer. Easy to load and then to access all the info you need.

Ordered the set for work. This is the least expensive price I found and free shipping.
