I purchased a Mongoose Tyax Elite about one year ago. You will not find a bike with nicer components for the same price. The aluminum frame is strong and lite. The brakes are amazing, they are not your cheap cable operated discs, they are true hydraulic, with awesome stopping power. The gear set is well matched-not the best, but surely better than most. This bike also turns heads amongst other bike riders, the beautiful black finish looks great.
If you are thinking about getting into trail riding or looking for an excellent commuter bike, Mongoose really did well on this model. Comparatively you would pay almost double for the same features on a Trek or Cannondale.
