More About the Author

My cooking/baking carrier was handed down from my mother and father. I baked my first cookies in 1943, in grade school in Buffalo. New York. Although I have had thirty seven major occupations, and five companies of my own, I have always returned to cooking as my love and profession. I start to write and prepare the cookbooks when I became disallusion by the cost per recipe of the cookbooks then on sale. Why should I, why should anyone pay two and three dollars for a recipe because it is printed in a book with fancy pictures. I made it my goal with my first cookbook, to prepare a cookbook whereby the buyer would be paying only pennies for what they had in the past paid dollars for. This has been my one goal since the first page crossed my computer screen.

Loved the book as a whole, great pictures, good format only real problem was the small printing. Would rather have had a larger book with bigger printing.

Lots of recipes but i could not find one that I liked. They are all so-so up to Ok but no truly great ones. The recipes are not well tested in any of Gillespie's books. I recived a gift of 5 books all by him not one is worthy of a place on my bookcase. The only reason the get a space in the attic is they were a gift from my dad and i can not toss them.... DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY

This little book is a gem and I want to buy a copy for all my friends.Every recipe I have tried has been a winner. The muffins are all great but don't overlook the terrific scones, biscuits popovers, quick breads and coffee cakes. I make his Cape Breton scones in muffin tins instead of the traditional way, and they're low in fat and sugar and delicious. Okay, it would be easier to use if there were an index, but flipping through to choose a recipe is half the fun. True, there are a couple of mistakes in the book, but overall it provides a delicious collection of well-written recipes to help you find the perfect accompaniment to any meal.
