5.0 out of 5 stars Great game leading up to the World Cup April 29, 2010

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Whether you are a huge soccer fan or totally new to the sport this game is a blast. I bought Fifa 10 at release and have played it a ton and this game only improves on it. Same great engine from Fifa 10 is tweaked to address some major annoyances. (Defenders chesting balls in the box down straight to attackers for gimme goals, easy chips of the keeper)
Scatter shot observations.

All 199 teams, many with authentic jerseys. New stadiums and overall presentation is great although the in-game cut scenes can get a bit repetitive.

Graphics in the cut scenes are also improved and the player close-ups look better than ever. Captain your country is a pretty cool feature, and if you have a created player from Fifa 10 you can transfer him over. The stats you worked so hard to build up will not transfer though as you have to progress by performing well in qualifying and friendlies on the way to the World Cup.

Tourney mode starts with qualifying and friendlies. A simulate match option would come in very handy here since it takes forever to make it to the actual tournament.

Scenarios mode puts you in real life situations from the qualifying around the world with goals to accomplish in each game. Very fun mode with additions coming as the actual cup progresses. The announcers, while not my favorite individuals, are very accurate to situations and add to the game when you can hear them over the crowd (sliders available).

Online mode is fresh but limited to a World Cup tourney starting from the group stage. Pick one country and play three group matches to progress, then to the round of 16, and four single elimination games to win the cup. You do not have to play them all at once. Not sure how the matchmaking works but it is a blast. I would have enjoyed the inclusion of the team play modes which were a blast in Fifa 10. Doubt this was a space issue so I think it should have been included in a full price game.

I guess that is it. Overall a great purchase for most, especially if you have some competitive friends to play with!

GO USA!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this game! June 3, 2010
Platform for Display:Xbox 360
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Not a big real life soccer fan, but I love me some video game soccer. I've owned Fifa World Cup 2002 and 2006 for the original XBox. I also have World Cup 2006 for the 360. In the World Cup video games of the past the USA is always in the game, but when you win them the World Cup, it never resonates through the announcers the moment in history that just occured. Its a standardized general fanfare for "insert team/country name here" type of presentation. Except this time. In 2010, when team USA goes to the finals, the announcers are prepared. You hear them talking about soccer in America being the fifth sport and the future of soccer in America.. They discuss the possibilities of what would happen if the US, the largest sports market in the world. They make you feel that this is the real deal, not just a few general soundbites that is anti-climatic at the end. Let me tell you, when I won America the World Cup, it felt good because the annoucers and the presentation made it unique. They reminded you that this is an historical moment in soccer history. It's almost like EA and FIFA were really trying to sell this game to that "largest sports market in the world"!

If your a soccer fan and follow the clubs, get FIFA 10. If you could care less about the clubs, like most North Americans not near one the 15 U.S./Canadian cities in the MLS, but you still like video game Soccer, this is the game for you. FIFA 2010 World Cup offers about the same gameplay as FIFA 10, but presentation reflects national pride for your team. Honestly, this is probably the only way you'll ever get to see America shock the world by taking the Cup they covet so much.

4.0 out of 5 stars FUN but not at full price July 14, 2010
Platform for Display:Xbox 360|Amazon Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
The changes to game play are minor and the graphics are nothing special. What makes the game fun is the online World Cup. Being able to play real people in your quest for the cup at any time with no special planning is great. The $50+ price is not good for minor changes but since I purchased it at a discounted rate (Amazon Special) I am very satisfied.

Game Overpriced?
It is. The game should be priced at 40 usd.
At least, there should be a way to register Fifa 10 and get a discount, to thank loyal EA Sports supporters.
