5.0 out of 5 stars Songwriting Like A Pro, November 23, 2009
This review is from: 2010 Songwriter's Market: Where & How to Market Your Songs (Paperback)
In early years of writing, I relied on Writer's Digest magazine and books to show me how to write, revise and market my poems, fiction, nonfiction, and manuscripts for children. WD publications and, now their website, continue to provide fresh ideas and reminders for the genres with which I'm familiar, but as a novice to songwriting, I'm especially glad to see the 2010 Songwriter's Market guide. The book provides helpful articles, the vocabulary unique to the songwriting industry, contact information, and tips on how to succeed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Songwriter's Market 2010 - A Bit Disappointing, August 22, 2010
This review is from: 2010 Songwriter's Market: Where & How to Market Your Songs (Paperback)
Okay, the articles are very good, but I was very disappointed at how few new listings there are from year to year. And, there are FAR too many "publishers" listed who, when you go to their websites, are obviously small-time artists who are only looking for material which they can include in their repertoires. And sometimes, the websites or e-mail addresses aren't even valid! That said, one may still get lucky with one of the few dozen publishers listed. And there are numerous listings for record companies, managers/agents, etc. I wish there were an e-mail address to contact the author, but I see their website is listed. I've bought this book for years and would just like to see something fresh in it.

3.0 out of 5 stars interesting, but......, March 21, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: 2010 Songwriter's Market: Where & How to Market Your Songs (Paperback)
I am a music teacher and a composer. I have written some music that I wanted to get published and I thought that this book may help me out. Unfortunately this book is geared mainly towards pop music, movie music etc. If you were composing music in these genres this book would be very helpful, but it is not helpful in all styles of music.
